I actually just got back into town this morning. I went to Denver for my Grandmas funeral. She lived 86 years but unfortunately her last days were in a coma due to a brain tumor. Her health was failing fast over the last 3 years and it is good that she doesnt have to suffer anymore.

Started the Scout... let it run until it got up to operating temp and then shut it down. Been saving my pennies so I can buy the goodies I'm gonna need to rebuild the tranny in my tow rig. I've just about got enough $$$ saved up to order the parts.

Today I spent a little money tooling up for the tranny rebuild. HF has their 20T shop press on sale so I picked one up and set of seal drivers. I need to either make or buy the 'birdcage' tool to compress the OD direct clutch spring and make a couple of gauge blocks and I should be tooled up for the job.

Still recovering after the surgery, so I wasn't able to do shit but think about shit.

Went out to start the trucks Tues., and when I got the T-all running, I heard what sounded like an exhaust leak. Well being the super genius that I am, I went over to the right side of the truck and found this:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=229337&stc=1&d=1139791642

This after fixing this problem, but not inspecting everything I should have:

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=229338&stc=1&d=1139791807

I have know idea when I'll be able to fix this because it obviously requires both hands. Oh well :shaking:

Just finished some body work, so I can fab up my new rocker guards (Had to replace some rusted holes as well as the two old gas tank filler holes.
Cut a bunch more stuff out for my rockers with the plasma cutter earlier this week. Now the fun fabbing begins....

Yesterday I found a 79 Ford HP 60 front for $250.:D

It's going to sit in storage for a while.
I'll gather parts for the upgrade (matching rear), Hi-steer, locker etc.
It came with 4.10s, so most likely I'll find a 60 or 70 w/4.10s & weld it.
Currently have 4.88s, and I'm at 80 to 1... running 4.10s would put me at 60 or so.

So doubler is in the future... Hopefully 465/203 to either Ford 205 or D300 flipped.

I know the feeling, total stoked to make the find. Then doubt sets in, did I bring the right\enough tools. Reuben had his re-tubed to pass drop.

Sat. drove up to Mosquito, CA and busted ass all day installing a friends HVAC system. Since he lives in the middle of no where, I wanted to get it all done the same day.
Sun. R&R with the family as Monday will be here way to fast.

Your new press should be all ya need to "uncage" the clutch packs. A piece of tube the same ID of the pressure plate notched to give access to the snap rings and you are rockin.

I made a foot press for my auto tranny rebuilds (mainly gm stuff) sometime ago, but tend to use my allthread quicky made ones about as much as I do my "bling" footpress.

Wish ya luck on the rebuild!!

Someday we need to chat about your wheelin trip. My group has mentioned one in 07 and I want to know a few things from someone who has made the trek first hand.

It's a long ass drive from Texas, I did it in 04, make sure your trailer and tow rig are up for the run. Bring a ton of spare parts and wheel your rig hard this year to make sure it is ready.

An 07 run I might be up for, keep me posted.

Well I spent the better part of Saturday trying to confirm whether or not my TH400 was dead...

http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=442757

Only to have another curve thrown in...damn O-ring.

So upon Binder's recommendation I am going to check into seeing if there is any way that the 3rd & Reverse servo piston o-ring could have come out of the VB...

If not then YES the tranny is dead.

I will be getting a PnP TH400...

I got my new headlights in...they are so cool...who needs a running rig when you can sit in the drive way and play...

[QUOTE=jdjanda] wheel your rig hard this year to make sure it is ready. QUOTE]

You mean when I start and finish it I need to wheel it hard for a year first??

:D

I will probly only get some wheelin time on the trip if someone has a empty passenger seat. I am just trying to keep the trip alive with as much info as I can scrounge for the group.

Maybe I will win the lottery and I can pay someone to build my junk.

Guess you gotta play the lottery first though.:D

See a trend?? Web wheeler only!!

Thanks for the info!! May have more questions for ya later.

Spoke with Mike Ismail about my wounded RPT engine mount.. waiting on the replacement now.

Finished the new body mounts.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006DevilWinterOverHaul/DCP_0003_003.jpg

Plated the frame and reinforced the driver's side, including the strap going over the frame.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006DevilWinterOverHaul/DCP_0007_003.sized.jpg

Started on the new engine mounts (and 1.25" engine lift)

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006DevilWinterOverHaul/DCP_0002_003.jpg
http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/PlainGallery/2006DevilWinterOverHaul/DCP_0009_004.jpg

Now the stock mount gets pulled off and the new mount gets gussetted.. and then I have to pull the steering box to do the driver's side.

May plate portions of the frame here, too - both frame rails have dimples from the engine mounts.

Started getting the stuff I need to put my new aluminum Ferd radiator in, too.

In the midst of all of that, I also powder coated a buddy's new 1/10 scale rock-buggy.

Saturday: Helped my Dad move some appliances for an old lady at our church. Spent the rest of the day working on TTTOR project number 2 with Dan. I worked mainly on pulling old wiring out, reviving the burnt wiring from the Naches trip (say goodbye to Space age Polymer), and sorting/labling the FI harness for Dan's install. Got to witness project Girl Scout leave the shop, with only a few minor hiccups. Overall it was a very good day.

Sunday: Worked on my 74 200. Installed my new IHonly hub nut lockwashers, bolted on my hubs and tried to reattach the sway bar, only to brake one of the very unique looking J-bolts :mad3: :mad3:. Tried to get the truck out of the driveway, but it appears the front calipers are locked up and won't let it move, so new calipers and brakes hoses an we'll try it all again!!!

If it's not to late, make it with taller sides, this way you can have a loft for spare parts.

Trying to get 4 new 2" leaf springs for less than $400.

anyone got any help? I'm trying to put in 2" leafs and cut my body lift down from 3" to 1.5 ". I ALREADY HAVE a SOA and a cut n turn.
I want 2" springs and my body lift cut down installed for a budget of $900. I also am trying to avoid new drive shafts b/c they will kill my budget.

Actually, I *have* been prepping.. grind all of the mill scale off of the new stuff, grind paint/rust/grease off the old.. even went so far as to use 409 on the driver's frame rail to remove the p/s gunk before taking a flapwheel to the frame to clean it up.

Budget $900 Since you did not mention what lift you wanted or currently have. I got you some 2.5 lift springs. Complete setup with 2 front and 2 rear springs, 4 new shocks, new U bolts all the way around, did I mention you get new bushings top and bottom too.
Click here (http://www.dandcextreme.com/product.asp?pkID=90) $753.76 Shipping $50(approx)
Budget left $97.00
With all that money left over you can have those body lifts milled in half, or buy some new ones.

Sounds great, But the 2.5" springs are actually closer to 4" are they not? (heard they run big) I don't want new drive shafts, so my stock drive shafts will have to be re-used, im worried they will be too short.

currently I have stock sagged springs, and a 3" body lift all over a SOA

To dispel the myth that I don't actually do anything --- I finished up my axle regear from 4.10 to 4.56. Also finished the cut and turn on the 'newest' D44 front.

Add a gallon of gear oil to the rear last night and drove it around the block.

Hopefully I can break the gears in with a few miles, before I try and break them off road...
