what vehicles can i find this thing in? (ther than a hummer, and the hummer one is different) unless anyone knows a way to run a larger chain in a 242. (sick of stretching the chain)
gotta get ready for this summer. . .

Hummer. That's it as far as I know.
Why don't you just ditch the 242, they suck donkey balls. If you can't swing an Atlas at least get a 231 and beef it, or better yet just get a 241. Or a Dana 300...

I have a new rebuilt 242 in my garage. It's not a 242AMG. but a 242j for Cherokee application I believe. I'll sell it cheap. It's never been installed after the rebuild.

I have a 231 DHD (Dodge heavy duty) I used to think it was something special because of the thicker chain and extra planitaries. (sitting under the bench) The internals should fit your 242. Then I saw the link below. You might want to opt for the 241, check the specs.

Or just get an Atlas.

ok, well then, what can i pull a 241 or a 231HD out of? and it has to be driver's side drop. I'm NOT cutting up my nice new RC d44 front axle.

It would be easier to find a 271 from a SuperDuty.

chevy ifs trucks should almost all have em..
plus with the torsion bars in the way they had to mount em pretty flat..
I think using one in jeep would let you have a flat skidplate/crossmember..
