I know dtd is working on a spool, but does anyone know if someone is going to make a deeper set for the 14. Or is there some reason you cant????

I have always heard good things about Precision Gear gearsets. You can usually find good prices on them, you just have to search around. I have also heard good things about Richmond, but I think they are better suited for drag racing since they are made from a softer alloy. Then you can always look to Spicer, but you will pay for them. HTH

It might not make a difference, but I will always use Precision when I switch to different gear rations. Just make sure the company that you are looking at has a good warranty.

Called to get a quote on percision gears from dtw and they were $500+, genuine gear from same place was 350. Seems high for gears to me. What should i expect to pay?

Sorry that it took so long to reply. Threads on pirate don't stay on one page for very long. Kind of sucks if you are trying to keep up with a topic.
I never had good luck on prices from the big distributors. I think that we got my old roommates D44 Precison gears from Leon Rosser for like $250. I would think that 14 bolt gears would be more expensive just because of the size. I would imagine that if you spent $300-$350 you would be doing all right.
I really haven't heard too many good things about Genuine Gear. That is what 4WPW carries primarily and I am not impressed with the product.
I think if you go through Randy's R&P, you can get Yukon Gear sets. If I am not mistaken, they are made by an offshoot of Dana Corp. Don't quote me on that, I am just saying that because of what I have heard in the rumor mill. I really don't know much about Yukon except for a friend that runs them in his rear 60 and front 44.
The most important thing to find out is what the companies you are looking at have for warranties.
What we did when we were shopping for my roommates D44 gears is take a couple of 4wd mags and go through every add in the back and throughout the mag and give the companies calls. When we came across Leon Rosser with their prices on Precision, we jumped on it. We also found a ARB locker for $570. That may seem low, but we just happen to find it in an add for some company. We told the company about the add and they had to honor the price. Although, they weren't too keen on doing it. HTH Thomas

I think that the Best Price that I have found is Reider Racing. To do the 14 Bolt 5.13 you will have to get the thick cut gear if you have 4:10 and lower since your carrier is different. This is where Reider aslo helped me out. When I called DTD they told me that I needed a whole new carrier assembly and everything. I dont know if the guy was trying to make a buck off me but it pissed me off. So when I got off the phone with Reider I called him back and he said "Oh yeah I forgot about that". Forgot?......Pretty expensive brain lapse.
So that is what I have found:
