pull a plug wire and see it its getting spark to the plug.
pull the to the coil + and see if it has key on power with a light or multi meter.
check the dist for signal, put a wire on the - coil terminal and crank it, hold the wire a 1/2" from grounded surface and see if it sparks. be ready for a zapp.
check the coil for restistance.
if all these fail pul it apart and check for bad internal wires and burnt off cap/rotor

No power at the coil + side. . Haven't tried the wire at the negative side yet. its a new coil. I've replaced all the fuse panel fuses, and there aren't any bad connections cuz I have them all pulled for the new ignition system

A big thanks goes out to everybody who as given input on my last to topics concerning ignitions and distributors. My distributor was bad so I replaced it tonight and it runs again. I'm happy and the jeep doesn't get to be set on fire anymore :)

did you figure out what exactly was wrong with it or just replace the whole thing??

Just replaced the whole thing. I hooked up all the wires and put a multimeter on it and suddenly i had voltage readings. I'm thinking the magnetic pickup was shot. Which seems odd to me cuz the engine only has 130K on it. All my jeeps up to this point have had original distributors up into the 200Ks

pickup coils are funky, they will just cut out then work again 5min-60min later.
