I am looking to upgrade my clutch. it seams that most people are running either petroworks or the DF. what are the property differences between the two? im running stock gears, but will be changing to 528's in the next 3 months, can you slip either of them, or is it just in or out with no chance of an easy start.

I currently have a DF in mine. It is time for a clutch change. It is slipping and gets hot quick. I have spoken to Gary at Petroworks and he states his clutch is better that the DF. I am going to purchase the Petroworks clutch this time and see if Gary's word hold true (it usually does).

I have a version of the Petroworks clutch in mine, and it's GREAT.

Good feel, not jerky, no on/off type response. I have yet to burn/smoke this clutch, and it will shortly be feeling the joy of a 2.0 liter.

I have seen people beat the tar out of the Petroworks clutch, they are worth every penny, and are FAR better then the Center Force junk.

I'll have Gary make up a custom unit for my Mitsubishi engine pretty soon as I'm slipping the stock Toyota clutch I currently use.

Is there an echo in this thread or what

I had a DF clutch in mine. It ate the PP alive. I was not impressed.

I have DF, Only thing bad about it is the ON or OFF engagement. No play. But once you get the hang of that little engagement spot you can slip the hell out of it with out fear of it toasting.

well, it's expensive, but what we all REALLY want for christmas is the Revlok II clutch. It's made so that when you slip it a lot, it gets hot, then grabs like a mutha. I had a Kevlar clutch once, the guy said it needed more pressure to hold, but it was better and it would grab if it got hot. I got a pressure plate from him with the kit that had 2 diaphram springs onit. I broke the clutch pedal, arm, cable, and bent the throwout bearing shaft in the tranny housing. don't ever get one of those.
The Revlok II is the one to get. but it's like $600. and it will never let you down. It's race quality. If it starts to slip and get hot, it grabs better.

Sounds about the same as the Petroworks clutch. Beat the tar out of them, and they ask for more.

Same thing as a Rally clutch for sport compacts. Far better then OEM.

I have the Petroworks clutch and beat the hell out of it though the mud, water, and rocks. No problems its, worth the money.

I have been running the df clutch.. when I swapped in the twin cam dual carbed setup it was at about 50%.. Over 1.5 years later.. It is still holding strong.. And I REALLY abused the mother..

When ya hit submit..only hit it once..if it seems like it is taking a long time hit refresh, and yer post will most likely be upp (at least on my pc)..

Digging into the deep recesses of my mind, I think mine has a centerforce PP and a stock disc. The PO had a prob with the disc and swapped it to a stocker. I haven't had any trouble with it, nice and smooth and doesn't slip. And you guys with multiple posts can hit the EDIT button at the bottom of them and delete the excess ones.

I had a Centerforce and hated it. I tried stock disks in it too. It didn't please me then either. I just run a cheap fenco or something from the parts store now but it also sucks. :D

There's a place in Atlanta called The Clutch Exchange. guess what they do?
you bring yours, they rebuild, they give back. $25. no shit. I've done it a few times there. jd

ps somewhere in the marietta area I think.

I've been running the Petroworks clutch for...gosh...three years now? I had Gary stuff it in there while he was putting in the 1.6. I don't really even think about it...it just works great.

Oh...and I had a Centerforce clutch in my Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4. That thing sucked a bag of dicks. It took more throw from completely engaged...to completely disengaged than the pedal had travel  ...so you had to pick your evil...slipping under "drop the clutch" or "creeping" at the red lights. It was cheaper to sell the car than to pull that motor and Getrag tranny out again!

Damn, I miss that car. :D

Yeah.. Like an extra hole in the head. If it was as reliable as most Mitsubishi', count your lucky stars to be rid of it. I like their motors though.

Just to double check, the clutch everyone is raving about is part #TRM5254 from petroworks.com correct? I just want to get it right before I order.
