I've never owned a Ford truck before (mostly Dodge's), but I bought a 1983 Ford F350 today, sight unseen . . . I'm going to pick it up on Friday, but was curious about a few things. Here's what I know . . . it's a crew cab, SRW, 351 engine, automatic with 30,000 original miles. Here are my questions/assumptions . . .?

* Would the 351 be a Cleveland or Windsor?

* The trans is a C6?

* The T-Case is a 205?

* The front axle is a high-pinion, kingpin Dana 60? What gear ratio would you guess?

* No idea what the rear axle is . . . too early to be a Sterling, right?

I tried searching, but didn't find anything. Any input would be appreciated . . . thanks!

nothing set in stone but sounds like you already own it. probably 351 windsor , cleveland never came stock that year or in truck. probably c6 or t18 4 speed. could be 208 t case i think. no dana 60 front in 83 ttb dana 50.

Really? A TTB Dana 50, even in a 1 ton truck? Damnit!

being that it's an '83, the motor might also being a 351M. i think '82 was the last year it was in use, but i'm sure a few '83 models escaped with them. it would be too early to be a sterling, most likely a dana 70 in the rear. a 60 front is an easy swap.

I've got a Chevrolet Dana 60 that I'm not using. Assuming that I somehow changed the tranfer case from a driver's side drop to a passenger drop, could I possibly make the Chevy 60 work?
