can anyone tell me what size will sufficiently cool this motor?

if you are running the stock YJ radiator with an electric fan what size are you using and how do you engine temps look?

can anyone tell me the largest size that will fit?

I don't have the radiator here or I woudl measure.

Thank you

I put a 16" fan on right behind the radiator. I had to fab a simple bracket out of in order to mount it. So far I have had no over heating problem. It hasent seen a full summer yet though. I put a electric thermastat and relay on it so I don't have to keep an eye on the temp guage.

awesome, thanks for that info. did you use a gneric autozone/advance auto 16" fan or did you drop big bucks of a SPAL or similar?

do you run a shroud or is the fan directly against the fins of the radiator?

can you go into a little detail as to how you control it... for example, did you drill and tap a temp sensor into the engine somewhere and run that to a control/relay/whatever? or did you use of the probes that simply inserts between the radiator fins?

you wouldn't happen to know the cfm would you?

sorry for all the questions, i just want to make sure i cover all my bases.

The cheap way to go to use a Taurus fan. They cool the engine no problem and you can find them at any junk yard just about.

Do a search on here & google and I am sure you will find even more write ups.

i found an unbelieveable amount of info on the taurus fan but i'm trying to stay away from it merely for the fact that it draws so much current... i do a lot of night wheeling on the beach and run 3 sets of auxillary lights on top of my normal stuff and don't want to punish my alternator too bad.

the 16" 3000cfm fan on www.partzfinger.com is $59 + shipping and i think it only draws about 12amps or so, i forget off hand.....

thanks for the info though, the taurus/sable fan would be great if it wasn't for all the current i'm already pulling with my lights.
