Right around 300 horsepower and 450-500 lbs of torque. Auto's got detuned sometime, not sure when. I have driven several auto's and several standards in both 2wd and 4x4 and the standard trans version is a beast of an engine. Either that or the automatic trans. gear's suck.

If I remember right it is 345 HP and 480 TQ. I run a 2000 with an auto, I have 4.10 and a factory installed limited slip, I tried different tire sizes but ended up going back to the stock size. It just seems happier there.

I load an 8' camper in a 6' bed, a 2900# trailer and my toyota. The only thing I don't really pass is a gas station. I run about 8-10 loaded and 9-12 unloaded.

I am on my second trans though and am right at 92000, I did change to synthetic in the motor and trans. It made the motor quieter under load!

I used to run the speed limit every where I went (75 in utah), I backed off to 68, and can pull any hill in Utah at that speed, loaded!

Edit: Sorry 310 HP

This is just my personal experience, I don't care about gas vs. diesel. I don't care about cost savings in gas. And I don't care about resale, I don't intend on getting rid of this vehicle. This setup works well for me, I just need to save and get an ATS trans and be done with it.

I'm pretty sure the tranny gear ratios are the same for any of the 47RE's.... whether it's gas or diesel. Also pretty sure that the 46RE's had the same gear ratio as well.

1st: 2.45:1
2nd: 1.45:1
3rd: 1.00:1
4th: 0.69:1
Rev: 2.21:1

Don't know but I have a good story.
My wife's friend just took 3 draft horses to Texas, pulled by their 97 V10 with 50K on it. Good oil level, no noise when they left. Threw a rod in the middle of Texas but of course daddy sprung for an 04.5 CC Dually to get them home. LMAO

Yeah, seems to me that for some people in certain areas, you have to travel to get a good deal. I see posts all the time about people buying a one way plane ticket to Texas to fly down and pick up a "new" truck and then drive it home and still come out spending less money than if they bought one closer to home.

The only problem I had with mine was the tranny. The dodge V10's are great gass engines for pulling. Like others have said, you won't pass a gass station! Too bad they don't make that engine any more. One thing I would worry about is if you do have to work on the engine, will you be able to get parts?

Every part I have gotten for my truck has been from Napa. Toy dealerships still sell parts for fj40's, you don't really think DC wouldn't stock parts for a motor that is in thousands of trucks do you?
