Is a 205 enough for sm465 4.56, and 42's. Dont really want to buy a doubler right if i dont need to. Im planning on havig it done by May. So a doubler would require more overtime at work and less time with the jeep.

with a LoMax 3:1 it would be. Whats the stock gearing?

I think it is like 1.8-1.9 It is pretty high gearing for a t-case.

If you had a large torque engine that ran very well it will work until you can save up for lower gear set.

I used to run stock 2.73 gears, 2.62 transfer case and 6.69 low gear NP-435 with a fuel injected 401. That was 48 to 1 crawl ratio. My buddies Toyota with 5.29 gears had a crawl ratio of 49 to 1. I was actually lower than he was cause I could wheel at 600-1,000 rpm and he had to run 1,200-1,500 rpm because of the 4 cyl.

Ill be running a tuneport 350 with a mild cam, headers. Its not the most powerful but it is reliable.

it will work I ran the same setup with 39.5s and It would launch 2nd and crawl in 1st.

I ran the lame ass 4.0-5sp-231-5.13s and 42s for afew seasons, it suck donkie balls but I had many fun hours of wheeling and stalling with my buddies. Now with a 350 Propane-th400-203-205-5.13s (74:1) with an auto Ill be having more fun (once Im done). :flipoff2:

Wheel it, then later upgrade, you wont be able to stick some crawlin lines and youll be stalling alot on stickey inclines but in some cases youll be king speed wheelin. Its fun watching someone speed wheel, especially big rigs on big tires.

i'm gonna be running 61:1 SM465-205-4.56 gears

my buddy is runnign the stock 42RE with a Stak and he's only going to be getting 66:1

he'll be on 42" i'm be on 40" tires we'll see how it works. What i figure is that i'l wheel it and if i dont' liek it i'l do the lowmax 3.8:1

Ill probably go ahead and put steeper gears in the axles. Im going to rebuild the axles anyway so it would hurt to go ahead with a gear change.

isnt the lomax gear kit a whole new t case?? i talked to ther guys there and you need to order a new np205 since the gears dont fit in the stock versions... what i did was install a 4:1 klune v in front of my np 205, and i love the gear options... plus im at 91:1 final gear ratio:D

NP 205 is 1.96:1
SM465 is 6.55:1
punkin is 4.56:1

then the crawl ratio is 58.54:1? an RV cam would help for low-end grunt. but 60:1 isn't too shabby. But 42" tires . . . . .

How much is a klune. If I went with a 3:1 Wagoner Machine 203 its a $1000, the doubler is $700, and the sm465 adapter is like $495. That $2200 for alot of work. I dont mind spending the money for it but a klune does look like alot less work.

A Klune V is around $1500 depending what you buy and what you're adapting it to.

I'd be willing to let my 2.72 Klune go for $1000....I have 31 spline in & out, plus 23 spline in & outs for it. PM me if you're interested... I'm going STAK
