Hey all,

Thanks for you help if you can give me some info. My wife has a 1997 Explorer with a v8. I am having some issues trying to locate a pulley from any of my local parts places. I am referring to the pulley that is located up in the middle and the top. It doesn't have the ribs in in so its smooth and it has a lip on the front/back to keep the belt on.

Nobody seems to have this part that I need. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everytime I ask for this they give me the pulley that bolts futher down towards the left that is smooth and no lip on the front/back.

Thanks.

I just put a 97' Explorer motor in my Bronco. If I'm not mistaken it's just an idler pulley that should be available at any Ford dealer.

Many times, even the replacememt idlers from the dealer differ in apperance from the original. In several cases I've had to replace a plastic idler with a steel one and vice versa.

I'm not saying the parts stores were pulling the right part, but differences in apperance are something to keep in mind.

BTW, the last late 90's Xploder pulley I replaced was a dealer only item at the time.
