last oil change for my '95 powerstroke produced a small spring (1/2" x 3"") & small disc in the drip pan when i dropped the oilfilter? i'm guessing it came out of the o/f housing? any thoughts.......... do i need to fish them out of the used oil tank & replace?? i checked my Chilton's disc & couldn't find any answers (surprise). thanks in advance for any info..... :(

the spring and a ball if I remember reading right are a part of the backflow prevention system built into the oil filter housing. The housing was redesigned somewhere in the 96 year if memory serves me correctly. There shoudl be a dimple that holds the spring and a small ball in place (going from faded memory here) but there should be more than just the spring.
The new housing is available from the dealers however it's not cheap. and that head also serves as the end for the oilcooler so you can go ahead and replace the oilcooler o-rings while you're replacing it.

if you've got time then www.powerstrokeshop.com tends to be the cheapest place to get the parts from
