: Rear RC60 Setup

I am putting a RC60 in the rear of my EB so I need to change the ends over to rear spindles.

I have both the 60 and a 70. The od of the 60 tubing is 3.125 and the 70 is 3.5 od and 2.5 id.

I was thinking I could press out the tubes on the 60 and turn down the tubes on the 70 to 3.125 and press them into the 60 housing. I'd plug weld it and then weld around the tubing to the housing. The thickness of the tubing where it is pressed in would still be .3125 so I figure it will be fine.

I've read the post about cutting the spindles off the 70, turning them down, pressing them back onto the 60 tubing and adding a new section of tubing with a sleve to extend the short side. That seems like a lot more work. This way I won't have to buy any expensive axle tubing.

What do you guys think?

I cut up a 70 for my RC60. Matt at West Texas Off Road turned it down for me it wasn't that bad. Try drilling out the rosette welds and pushing the tubes out and you could damage the housing. I would go with the sleeve option.

Here is a write up http://www.jeepcj.homestead.com/axle.html

Well there is a pair of '94 ends on ebay right now for $112 and climbing and they are not the king pin type so these are probably more valuable. I'd take $125 plus shipping. I just have the housing no other steering parts.

I'd trade for some Chevy D60 spindles, hubs, rotors, 35 spline stub shafts, 35 spline lock outs.

I wish I had seen this before Camo did. Put em to good use Camo.

Has anyone heard when the 35 spline ford outers are coming out? (Other than Waggoner's)

Camo didn't want them. I only have the part that is welded to the axle housing no other steering parts hubs brakes or anything. Just the C shaped piece.

Can I have them if you are not doing anything with them?
