I ran 37's and the stock 1.3 for a year and snapped the front output while crawling (had 6:1's in at the time). I babied the drivetrain back then. Nowadays we are driving 20 foot vertical walls with the help of momentum so I would have 0 confidence in a Zuk t-case now. I have personally seen 2 other front output breaks and a cracked t-case, none of the rigs had bigger than 36" tires on them.

i have cracked a case once.

Never broke anything internally. I was using a case in comp with a rear dline disco....I never had a problem doing front digs:D

I have broken one and I have watched 2 others break. Ours were all the same - case broke at the long side (crap, maybe short side) mount.. ripped the mount and a decent sized chunk of the case right off - I'm sure I have pics somewhere..

We've never seen problems with the internals - just the case.

I broke a front output with 31s and a 1.6. It was stupidity on my part though. I was pulling my friend's girlfriend's Tracker out of some deep mud in reverse and it let go. I hate mud.:D

broke the internals from the unbalanced 42's hammering on them, they let go when I was idling around my block in the 'hood. I also fragged some gears on the highway with 31's and 1.6l I think it was just bad bearings, they had been making noise for some time.

ive personally gernaded two cases. one had a rr long arm and stock short arm the other had spidertrax arms and a forest bucket. both on 36iroks and 1/2 tons with 4.56 gears. i think the high r/p had a lot to do with it. i trashed my first gear this past weekend; the main input on a 6.4 gearset. whatever, thats all part of it. i definately see a sambox II coming my way if i loose one more case though.

i cracked 3 cases, they were being used as a second t-case setup at the time in an 8v sidekick with 36 iroks. The last one that i broke had every single bolt in the transfer case in use, so instead of the arm mount area breaking off, i cracked the entire case right in half! i am extremely hard on my truck tho. I now run a dana 300 married, I have tried my best to break it, and i can't. very pleased. it's a heavy hawse to lift in there tho

Ive broken two cases. I run a toyota 20r, automatic, full width GM axles with 5.38's, and 38" swamper radials that measure 36" tall.

The first one took out some of the gears in a welded GRSII set. The first set died because I was in too much of a hurry to get on the trail. I waited adn decided to make a run instead of installing my axle gears that were sitting on the shelf. Unfortunately I didnt realize until after I sold the good input that the gears that broke were factory gears and not the grsII gears. I could have repaired the gearset.

This is my tcase bucket. It only ties into the stock mounts. The zlink was only temporary to move it around.

The second one is still in my Samurai, but the internals are still good. I made it back to camp towing a 1 ton Blazer Buggy on 44's using a ratchet strap to hold the tcase to my bucket. It broke because I had too much traction, pulling against too much of a load in reverse.
