Sigh, passed SPOT along to a new owner this afternoon. Ya, I have the check in my pocket, one less key, and feeling a little sad. Went home for lunch, and seemed odd not to see him faithful waiting in the driveway always ready to spring to life at a moments notice. 220,000 miles of faithful service, sure little things came up like dripping oil and needing some air in the tires, but damn that was one faithfull truck.
Ya, he enjoyed those sunny afternoons wondering around unknown roads looking for some long forgotten camping site. A little care in repacking his birf's and a set of new inner seals to keep the oil & grease happy. Never asked for much, just the occasional oil change and new set of plugs.
Just hope he finds himself once again faithfully washed and waxed, or exploring some trail leading to an old ghost town while an observant driver keeps the rev's under 3,000 on his trusty 2F.

Hey maybe I have a new career path is this engineering thing doesn't work out.
Na, just hard to sell Spot. Fine old rig, only time he ever let me down was after hiking in Nevada.... I lost the keys!!! Hardly his fault, but I could have sworn I heard that truck snicker.... :p
The day I sold (actually traded in, couldn't look someone in the eye and tell them it was a good truck) my old Heep Wagoner (big one) was the best day of owning that vehicle. It drove me nuts as the new OEM parts didn't even seem to last! It was a love/hate relationship. I loved to hate that rig!!! Spot was the same age, double the mileage, but just was the ever so faithful friend ready to go on a moments notice.
Faithful rig.... just hope he trained Goose the behave as well! Our old Land Cruisers each have their own personality. Each one tells me a story of previous owners and who has been working on them. After 20 years no two are alike, but they all appreciate maintenance and keeping in top shape ready to go for a run.
