PFFFFFFFFFF!!! :D The video itself wasn't bad, but the 'wheelin (if you can call it that) is straight out of the mall parking lot. Here's a couple of my favorites quotes... :D

go to www.nexterra.org for some good ones. I wheeled with a few guys who had xterras, and they did damn good for their clearance and such. Of course, one of em did kill his cv shaft on one of the last hills, but they were cool nonetheless. My only issue with em was that they didn't take any pics of the zuk during the run :flipoff2: .

Classic. I guess you mean unless people rush out and build up old Broncos, Samis or Jeeps that it's funny when they take what they do have and try to have some fun on the trails anyways?

99% of us Xterra offroaders are well aware of the limitations we have regarding our IFS, crawl ratio, LSD, etc. For lots of us, myself included, the Xterra is our first forray into the world of offroading, whatever degree of "extreme" you label it. None of us have dilusions of accomplishing the same things as a Disco, CJ, Mog or G-Wagon. That's preposterous. If you think we believe we're in the same category it's time to lay down the crack pipe.

Our lack of choice in aftermarket parts and the simple fact that not many of us are willing to chop up our brand new trucks means that a lot of the time we're running these trails stock. These are all daily drivers. Aside from that, maybe there aren't many of us who see the fun in climbing rock walls or flipping over. Personally I'm in it for the destinations and club outings -- meeting up with friends to motor around the woods is a great escape from the usual 9-to-5.

hey superjens, i'm the culpret on this one. hope ya don't mind us enjoying your videos, we liked 'um.

don't sell yourself short, we all started off like that, and if you all would stop spending money on graphics for the side of them like that black one, you could toss in a locker and a little lift....

seriously though, we've drug a xterra up carnage and were genuinely impressed by the little rig, even though it had some short comings. and trust me, we were all envious of his ride home, as we had a long way to drive our ghetto jeeps. and trust me, they are ghetto.

so stick around and read some tech, use the search engine, don't be afraid to dent the thing, pick up a welder and zap that rear open diff till its locked, and wheel the little thing until it bleeds 80-90 from every gasket. ( that is if they put that stuff in those new fangled rigs )

by the way, nice videos, i liked them. just need lockers and deeper snow.

Remember when the Samuri's stated hitting the trails and people laughed and joked. And remember how they went everywhere the Jeeps went but didn't break? That was cool.

I always enjoy seeing other makes of 4x4's on the trail. I think it's cool. They put it in low and do their best. Then they go home and see what mods can be done and take it out and do it again. It keeps the sport alive from all directions.

Videos were put together really well..

Fellas - glad to see you checked out the XTerra a little better... Im no newbie to 4X4 and I now own an X. I have had jacked up, V8 Z-71's etc and they rocked but the little X is a capable, useful little truck that has a myriad of applications. This truck fits the profile for a very good, useful 4X4. In the Australian outback or Peruvian desert a gas-guzzling, monster-tired rig wont last five minutes.. "Little" trucks like the X are the ones that do the time in those extreme conditions.... In the world of daily applied 4X4's big rigs and monster jeeps do not rule. Small, well-built and capable little trucks do. Ive passed stock wranglers in my X (when stock) off-road and am quite content with my choice (not to say the X is better but rather good competition when stock).
Granted it is sad to see so many hanging out in supermarkets but thats the beauty of the XTerra. It is a daily driver or a very good 4X4.

You guys have some sweet rigs!

not to mention that trail isn't much more than a gravel road

Oh, so you've been there and seen it in person!

Once again:

That was me, very new to offroading, nervous about the big door-eating rocks on the other side of the truck that I was sliding towards, nervous wheeling with a group of people I'd just met, and wondering just what the hell I was doing in my brand new truck taking it offroad in the first place.

The trail: Steep (http://www.superjens.com/pics/05-2001-Old/12-stave.jpg), wet, loose.
The driver: Completely inexperienced.
The truck: Completely stock, hard (35psi) street tires.
The conditions: I smoked the clutch and it kept letting loose (hence the revving engine).
Your comments: Completely stupid.

When you go from driving Honda-sized cars all your life to a much bigger (and more expensive) SUV, it's kinda hard to be a pro right off the bat. Of course, 44Runner, you've been an outstanding offroader all your life! I bow to your greatness! Can you sense the sarcasm? I can sense your ignorance.

How many times does he have to tell you guys that he was inexperienced and didn't know what he was doing? SHEESH! Everyone rushes to judgment way too quickly when it comes to looking at photos and videos of others that are just out to have fun. Trust me, the videos aren't made with the intention of giving all of the "GOD" offroaders the pleasure of laughing at them.

What is everyone's main intention when they wheel? Is it to show up all of the other "lesser" vehicles out on the trails with you? Is it to go out and see the who can get the most body damage? Or is it to get the hell out of the city and go have fun with some other folks who enjoy dirt, rocks and nice scenery? I bet I know the answer! I think we should all just lighten up and go kick back some   :D

Jeeeezus, you clowns. Nobody cares!! You're on the wrong website, ya fools. Look, Myself, and most others have nothing against, you, your choice of rig, or the trails you like...but you just came to the wrong place looking for praise or even acceptance. Go back to the "unlimited" forums or vmag forums, or offroad.com forums or whatever....this is the hardcore, graudate school of wheeling and building...you don;t have to like it, you don;t have to stay, and we sure as heck don;t have to be sensitive about your little newbie feelings.

Go away, grow up, come back later....or not at all.

Shhhesh.....do you waltz up to the baddest street court in east LA in your dockers and button down shirt to play a little "hoops" and then tell the locals they're too mean , and you just came to have a little fun.

Get over yourselves.

Righhhht, ok....then why the hell have someone videotape it, and then publish it on the web for the entire world to see

I didn't have somebody video tape it, the club I was with taped everybody coming up that obstacle. I had no problems posting it on my site, and I still don't, my entire reasoning behind it is to give other newbies the idea that it's OK to look like a dumbshit when they're getting started as well. I've since climbed tougher things and I continue to improve (no smoked clutches since). Hopefully I'll get some more footage in the future of me climbing other things more successfully, to show that all it takes is a bit of time and effort to figure this stuff out.

If you think I'm thin-skinned you couldn't be more wrong -- I've heard these comments (about my video) before, and I still hit the trails every weekend, I still meet and greet everybody out there, and I try my hardest to learn as much as possible. I don't presume everybody woke up one day knowing how to configure routers, mail servers, clustered RAID racks, these things are infinitely more difficult than offroading yet I'm skilled in this field and don't feel bad for one second that I'm too "dumb" to climb rocks in my truck. Offroading is a weekend escape for me, NOT something that I take seriously and to heart.

I know this is a "hardcore" site, I commend you guys for the big rigs and heavy gas pedals you have to climb those massive rock walls and slimy mud bogs. But some of you might want to consider that not everybody needs to dedicate all their time and energy into doing those things. There are lots of people out there who are simply content messing around on the easy stuff -- hey it sure beats buying a 4x4 just to hit the grocery stores doesn't it?

But what if you didn't have those big rigs with your lockers and 44-inch boggers and roll cages, and the rig you're driving offroad with was brand new. If you couldn't take the chance to take on body damage, if you wanted to avoid any drivetrain parts snapping, if you needed your truck to take you safely on long trips to fishing holes, campites, and to the office on Monday morning after every weekend ... wouldn't you adopt a different driving attitude?

Personally I'm more impressed with somebody who can take a barely capable stock truck up a steep trail without killing it than somebody who carts around a trails-only monster truck to tear up the terrain without batting an eye. Anybody can fish with dynamite, but even a newbie will get his arms blown off before he figures out which end is the fuse.

Ignorance runs both ways. The typical masses are ignorant to offroading and presume that everybody running around the woods in a 4x4 is a redneck. The offroaders who condone anybody in a clean 4x4 in a parking lot are ignorant to the fact that they perpetuate the myth by shunning them and keeping them there. Somewhere in the middle is the truth that there's room on the trails for both, and this is when you'll see greater acceptance of this sport. Think about this the next time you're threatened with trail closures -- look at the people lobbying to keep you out, and look at who is representing to keep them open. Get a few more "suits" empassioned about offroading and places like Moab might not be so rare.

this summer i bought a brand new 2001 tracoma and it got scratched to suck before the dealer plates came off. I didn't go out with the intention of fucking up my new truck. i just wanted to have fun wheeling while my fj wasn't running. My truck isn't a pos it is just has custom pin striping now. having a new truck didn't change my driving style, it made me want to see what a new truck could do.

As a side note. my stock tacoma could do everything you did in 2 wheel drive which means you weren't wheeling, you were out on a sunday drive.

Yes, yes it is. My intention is to also laugh at all the Xterra owners who are stacking rocks for 45 minutes because they are afraid of hitting their bumper on a drop-off. Then laughing as they bitch about how heavy the rocks are, and how "the guy who just drove over them knocked them over. Now we have to do it again"

Fawkin waste if you ask me. Why even try to wheel your rig if you so obsessed about damage that it limits how much fun you're having.

Also I know this is gen 4x4 but I thought this quote from the Jeep Talk Mission Statement was appropriate

38. If you are a spineless dweeb that thinks that our style is crass and unfair, or that we are a bunch of insensitive, insulting, cheap bastards that would laugh our asses off at your missfortunes as you went through the box on the 'con. Hmm... Might just have to justify cutting off the top like those damn Japs forgot to do to that Pathfinders! (old 4runners)...

Me and Bertha go way back... To like last year... hehe... I broke the steering for the first time on the pretrail to Blacktail Pond... (fawkin IFS)... Coincidently, Bertha's Sheep broke too! And it had to stay up there! Turned out it was just a F'd up fuel filter.

I would mail it back to Japan, but for some reason, there are people interested in keeping the IFS and "making it work"? Working IFS eh? Hmm... Interesting.. I can't wait to get my tax refund... 550 bucks that's ALL gonna get thrown into an axle and gears and shyt like that.. I'll be sure to bring a camera so that I can document all of the destruction! HAHAHA Maybe I'll even do a trail repair or two so I can destroy it alot! Muahahahha!

hahaha. I know what your problem is when wheeling, I can see it plain as day. Look very closely at let's say frame 603, look closely....it's there........yup there it is........NISSAN XTERRA.........WHAT A PIECE OF SHIT!!! :barf:

As for the first 2 videos.....it's kind of like watching soft core pore, with all the sound effects, and cast of a real porn....just no actual fawking.....except in this case, great video, great sound, and wait what's this......no wheelin!! :flipoff2: Shit my driveway has more snow than that in the winter.....so next time you wanna go wheelin, come on up, I would love someone to burn all the snow off my drive....;)

But some of you might want to consider that not everybody needs to dedicate all their time and energy into doing those things. There are lots of people out there who are simply content messing around on the easy stuff -- hey it sure beats buying a 4x4 just to hit the grocery stores doesn't it?

Look mate, for the last bleedin' time...your arguments are valid and good, you're correct, you're entitled, balh blah blah....but

NOBODY HERE CARES!

You're in the wrong place is all.

Go to your local biker rally on your Honda or Vespa scooter, and see how warm the welcome is and how they care about your opinions and status...you may be right....but they won;t care.

Look, I used to be a sport bike guy...but I never rode it to the local Angels clubhouse and shouted...hey you guys are too big and mean and rough with your very loud motorbikes and all the black leather, I bet you weren't born on a Harley.....

Whats up guys? Yes I drive an Xterra, but then again I cant afford the hardcore off road rig. I need something that will allow me to carry people, and equipment, but yet I like to off road and it made a good vehicle. Small price, lots of room, not to much power, decent gas, and good looks. So I bought an Xterra. I dont know why most of you bash other people and there ride. We are all in it to have fun and wheel right? How many people on here would actually tell another off roader to there face that there ride sucked, or was a total mommy ride without knowing them? I dont have thousands of dollars to spend on my ride, or an extra ride to modify and beat the hell out of so here is where my X is today, and a few pics to show it doesnt only go to the grocery store.

Here it is out at Devils Den on a trail

Well first off...that is the badest Xterra I have seen. :D

And would I tell some poser that his truck sucked?? Yes, have I in the past?? Sure have....

Poser "Dude my side kick is bad ass"
me "Yeah compared to a metro maybe"
Poser "No way, my v-6 will blow your shit away"
Me "V6???"
Poser " and my solid axles and coil springs are way better than leaves"
Me "huh that's great that suzuki got their coil springs and solid axles to look like IFS" :flipoff2:

Yeah, the last time I went out with him was over Christmas for a snow run... All these huge ass rigs were ahead of me (I had the weenie 31's then) and a stock sheep was behind me... I'm second to last and I get up the little rock pile and everyone looks back and the stock sheep has gone off the road into the ditch! I'm kinda wondering if I should go down there or not... With his luck around me, I'll be driving on flat road and all of a sudden, all four wheels on the Pathy will shoot out from under the truck! HAHAHA

Stop swingin' your dicks around about XTerras. They are a good, capable rig that delivers right on the money. You dont have to drive some great big, honking piece of crap with monster tires and exhaust that chokes anything in a five mile radius to effectively get from point A to point B. Many of your rigs wouldnt last five minutes in some of the more extreme areas of the planet because they require so much "tweaking." They would however, kick much arse in Moab etc..

It boils down to one thing:

Do you 4X4 to pose and climb big rocks while you swill Bud light and run your fingers through your Mullet as you jam to Skid Row?

OR

Are you interested in getting from point A to point B in comfort while carrying gear over rough terrain while also enjoying what and where you are and the being able to use your rig for more than rock-bashing?

Second choice is obviously an XTerra.

I have owned both sides of this debate and see the pros and cons. I dont see how Rainbow Flags come into play other than in an inability to discuss rationally. You know - like in a FORUM. Whoever is assigning that to Jens etc doesnt know him and obviously has a little "issue" with XTerras.

Rip into him and other XTerra owners (including me) guys - but rip into the truck, you dont know jack about the person driving it and chances are you wouldnt say a lot of this crap face to face. It might be you looking like you need a rainbow flag :)

I enjoy perusing this forum as an experienced four wheeler. You guys have some awesome rigs that can do just about anything (yeah, yeah - better than an X). I dont like some of that attributes of them but I am not about to characterize you all by them. (The beer/mullet crap was a joke if you havent realized yet).

Cheers & Beers!!

I bought my zuk for 1300 (very clean with no rust, a rarity here). And now, a few dents and some wheeling later the sum total I've put in for all my fun is.........175 bux. I made myself some diff breathers and gave someone some oil on the trail once :D . Oh, and I needed a new exhaust because mine got friendly with some rock. And I don't have a mullet. Screw comfort, my sheepskin and lingering exhaust leak are plenty fun.

No actually I have no desire to rip on the truck. Is it capable? No, but if that is what you want to drive, then drive the crap out of it. I won't loose any sleep over it. I actually think the swampers on the black rig looks tight. Now I want to see a SAS and bigger tires right away, then you will have a capable rig. On the other hand, I did have the desire to rip on the dude in the white Xterra going up the gravel road. Would I say what I said to his face? Hell yeah I would, could he say I'm wrong? Hell if I were there watching that, I would have been tempted to reach through the window and clock him right in the face to try to knock some sense into him.

I would dearly love to see some of your first "wheelin". I bet my sister did better on a BigWheel if you approached it with the same attitude you approach conversation.
Jens has the balls to post his Cherry poppin' trail so other newbies will see that there are others who admit to having to actually LEARN about 4X4's.. I think you missed the point.

As for Mullets...like I said - if your that proud then post 'em and let the world enjoy them! I dont really give a rats arse.

The rig dont make the man fellas.... Ive seen plenty a Chevy and Ford crippled and needin' help from a "Grocery getter" and there are pics of the situation all over the web. Even your much revered rig started out sitting on a showroom floor with Mr & Mrs Smith wondering if it was the right thing to buy and the salesman "running it by the manager".... You might want to remember that....

My advice is to check out the "Chopstick built" rigs as they rule the 4X4 world. Take a run around South America, Australia, Asia & Africa as well as just about everywhere else and it aint custom raised, 2 miles to the gallon rigs takin' care of business.... Not that they dont kick arse as I sure liked mine....

Anyway fellas - its been a real Fackin' blast!!!
Tread Lightly and have a good time out there!!

I wont beat this thread anymore..... Im bored with it. Ive been very amused at the "pack" mentality when dealing with new ideas and machinery though - you guys should get a "gang" name or something. I imagine the other members get a little tired of it though....

Cheers and thanks for the (constructive) pics and comments!

sorry, no pix here at school, but the first time I ever went off of the pavement was when a coworker convinced me to take my 72 GMC Jimmy to the rubicon with him and his toyota. We took it from loon lake to spider lake, and back out, as with it being my first time wheeling, and a unlifted truck on 31's it took most of the weekend to do that. We had to pick lines carefully, and stack (then unstack) a few rocks, but it was a trip that got me hooked, the jimmy survived with a couple of dings in the rockers, and a rub mark on the driver side quarter from slipping into a tree, and seing that I got hooked I traded it a month and a half later for my bronco that I've owned ever since.

There's a time and place for everything, and if you really think a rockcrawling board wants to hear about a fricking Xterra you're confused. Thanks for the laughs though!

holy shite, that was you in the suburu? actually it wasn't on engineer, but hackett we witnessed some dumb ass destroy a suburu. the water level was almost head light deep on a lifted jeep and there was a fawking suburu suck in a snow bank halfway through the trail. the sick thing was the dude called his friends with hummers to come pull him out ( and his buddy in the equally stuck 4 runner on 35 swampers ). we thought he was joking, but sure enough, later that night, we see a hummer come blazing through almost running us over.

i'm actually suprised he made it that far.

my first wheeling was in a rodeo, but of course, that got rolled and the jeep was bought. ( figured it had a roll cage ) the rest is history.

Eh, I don't mind, the "tech" (and I use the word loosely) they had over at XOC board was questions to this tone:

All terrain? WTF is an all terrain?

Yeah, it's got IFS. However, I'm locked front and rear and really don't give a rat's ass how much body damage happens. If I can drive it home, I consider it a successful day! I can't hang wit da big dogs yet. That's why I'm going to go wheelin in SV. Hopefully I can break the IFS.

What the hell is wrong here? You stumbled onto the wrong board. Go home. Go to the Xterra board where you can talk about your newest set of all terrains or the shiny new bumpers you just paid 1 large for, or the scratch in the paint you got on the way to the trailhead.

If I had a winch on my wifes celica and I was parked on flat ground I would pull some one out of a ditch.

So Mr. Exterra guy did that jeep follow you through the dithc and get stuck and you were nice enough to turn around and pull him out.

Go SAS on that mobile winching platform of yours then we'll talk.

MsCoo, you admit to having front and rear lockers, yet you come home with body damage all the time? Put down the beer retard, learn how to drive. As a newbie at least I have an excuse, you're just dumb. You're abusing us? Oh my ... you really do take the short bus to school, don't you? You do it all to yourself without anybody's help.

By the way, what's with the Xterra trashing, you have an account on the Xterra board ... you seem a bit confused. Time to get your head out of your ass, maybe?

This one could be ugly. Also some preffer to open the hood while winching. That way it just may be enough to stop the winch line from breaking the windshield. Not to mention you can see if your battery is frying.

Well that's at least the one thing I see blatantly wrong here.

I'm sorry, I had no idea it was wrong to come home with body damage. POR guys, is it a bad thing if you come home with body damage? Does the wife ask "What the FAWK have you been doing?" No. I didn't think so. Yeah, I consider the Pathfinder the short bus actually. It's painted school bus yellow and only has two doors.

On the Xterra board, I don't have an account there anymore. I don't need it. Not that I was getting any help there anyway.

Just face it jens, you aren't going to find any lovin here. No matter how hard you try, you've dug yourself into a hole (with open diffs and street tires) that you won't be able to get out of. I suggest you leave now before the POR guys REALLY start ripping into your ass.

Well, until the picture of the X showing the strap on the back, I just figured the Jeep was helping the X down the hill:D

I've been driving a pos ram-50 all over utah and calif. with IFS and a shit load of dents....so what, guess what....fawked the whin..........ners, "stop picking on us....can't we just get along"......
NO, NO ,NO......we can't.....but you might find love at JU :D

Now if you want to bring one of those mall runners out i'd be happy to set up a few cones on the spill way access rd to the con for you, unless gravel is to difficult.

And the Beer is BUD and don't make fun of my haircut, at least it's all there. :D

one last thing most of us would not ask to be winched by an X, the pos wouldn't get to where we'ed need help anyway.

But we still love you guys, that's why we set up events in easy to access spots. You could even bring your honda:D

Wow, just made it through.

First... Chit chat

Second... I kind of dig X's. In stock form they are useless. But look at BellyDragger. Take a couple of 60's some coils, some tube, a lot of gear reduction and some 38's and you are good to go. Worried about body damage, you aren't the only one on this board. Ask anybody with an exo. Hey, an X with an exo... Kinda catchy.

Third... You're ONLY mistake was posting that week ass video to a board like this. Keep that sort of thing in the Pissan section. Oh wait, there isn't one. Wonder why...

Fourth... McSoo. You drive the same thing as they do. Body damage doesn't impress me. Go to the junk yard and at a minimum get a set of 44's and throw them under there. Follow with lock, lift, tires, parts, etc. Get a couple of trails under your belt and then you will have grown into your attitude.

Peace muthas!

I just plain don't fuckin understand your attitude, when you do somthing stupid, (That video ) it is not fawkin a thing to be proud of. Your logic defies reason. One suggestion, when you are wrong and you know it, ot is ok to admit it, and move on. I personly would have a tiny bit of respect for ya, if you did (kant speak for anyone else here). If hardcore wheelin isnt your thing, that is fine with me, but for most (all ) of the people here it is a religion. Would you walk into a church and take a bid fawking shit and expect everyone there to love you for it???

I was going ot post a link to the pirate video clips  THEY ARE GONE! When I first found this site I watched every single one of those and decided this was the place for me. I didnt and still dont wheel like that but I will be there some day. It was amazing.

Second you aren't any better or more educated than we are. and You probably dont have more money or a bigger IRA or anything else compared to the people here. We have all walks of life and are damn proud of this place we have. You would probably judge a guy who asked you for a quarter at the local gas station wouldnt you? Shame on you (I'll leave the religous stuff out).

There is info here pertinent to what WE want to do and its priceless. See that little star by my name it means I donated $20 to come here and read the tech. There is info here you cant get anywhere else in the world. Your info can probably be picked up on a magazine rack in you local grocer's stand. While if we wrote a mag and asked our questions they more than likely wouldnt print it because its a more niche question...

You can take you biggest baddest (pffft) rig and we can take ours not only will it run over any obstacle you can it can run you over while attempting it AND THEY PROBABLY COST ABOUT THE SAME. Listen dudes if its trouble you want stick around if its peace and a co-existence THEN GO AWAY! I have kept a fairly level head and haven't gotten too nasty (or personal) but this thread is big enough and is a sad protrayal of adolescense. If us POR guys had any self control we'd leave this alone too. ;)

If its a showdown you want you got it but be sure to bring that camera and at least film your asses getting stomped. I am sure we have members where you are and they would be glad to stand up for the board. You name it when and where. I am putting out the offer to Put up or shutup (is that copywrited?) You name the place and time and we are there.

then you had to pull the snobby ass attitude shit.

!! I'm the one with the snobby ass attitude!??

Your proctologist called, he found your head. Did you not READ a thing I posted? Re-read them (if you can read, that is). My attitude from the beginning is a helluva lot more inviting to newcomers and stock trucks than this idiotic mantra some of you are shouting where you insist the only way to get off the highway is to slap on lockers, D60's and coils. My attitude is that anybody can enjoy the trails without turning their truck into a wannabe Big Foot.

I was warned that if I speak up here you guys will rip me a new ass -- so far all you're doing is looking stupid. You don't read, you jump to conclusions, your discussions skills are worth shit, and you fight like girls. The more you talk the dummer you look, only you're too dumb to notice.

Bring it on you white trash rednecks, I've been more intimidated by my shoelaces. (By the way, if you're referring to THIS attitude when I drop to your level of adding insults to everything I say, it appears to be the only way to communicate with the low-brow half-evolved apes who have nothing better to add than "fawk you" type comments).

Accept the fact that our daily drivers also do double duty on the trail. We scoot off to work in style and comfort, and still manage to get up the trails. I see nothing wrong with building a trails only truck and kudus to you guys/gals who built great ones. But when you brag about your truck with it's locked diffs and it's a daily driver and you still smash it up every time you get out there ... who are you trying to impress?

Some men you just... can't... reach.

Dude, you just don't seem to get it... The reason people want you to leave Isn't because you drive a weenie mall crawler and it Isn't because you're a lousy driver. (you are)

The reason people don't have any time for you is because this board was founded so people could discuss hardcore 4x4 mods--something in which you obviously have NO interest.

I mean, if you at least wanted to modify your rig to make it more capable off road, I'm sure you'd find people on the board who would bend over backward to help you, but the fact is, you seem perfectly happy wheeling your heavy, bloated luxo-cruiser as-is, IFS and all...

There's a whole internet full of wussy poseur 4x4 sites out there where you can impress everybody with your shiny, brand new Poseur SUV and regale them with tales of driving down a dirt road behind a lumber truck that kicked up a rock and scratched the paint on your hood... There's got to be thousands of like-minded wussies out there right now just itching to debate wether or not 31-inch tires are gonna make your ass look fat... Go talk to them.

Not to join the fracas, but to clear some things up about some of the pictures:

http://208.203.130.150/netc/stuck/Xstuck8.jpg

The guy with the beverage isn't even the X owner, it's Chris Perosi who drives a lifted and locked Amigo on 35s. He was pretty well known on off-road.com and was a contributor to the site but hasn't been heard from in a while it seems.
Here's the story behind the pictures (http://208.203.130.150/netc/stuck/stuck.html), it was early in the days of that X.
The vehicle belongs to Todd Frank, the main guy behind EOE (http://www.extreme4x4parts.com/). His rig is the test mule for EOE, and here is a more recent pic:
http://www.extreme4x4parts.com/images/eoe_3.jpg
He has a SAS in development, and already has the axle, just hasn't had the time to follow through.

That's Ian Firth, the guy behind Xterraownersclub.com. He may not be too extreme, but he has done a lot for the Xterra community, organizing GOX (http://www.xterrain.com/gox/index.html) I, II, and III, as well as GoneMoab (http://www.gonemoab.com). Notice the body damage on the RR fender. 'Fraid it's just from a mass of re-frozen snow jutting into line (http://www.xterrain.com/gox/images/goxbb1.jpg) on Black Bear Road in CO, but he wears it proudly.

Hehe, stock tires and rutted mud don't work well together. It was that or go through this hole
http://members.aol.com/hatterasxterra/xmovie1.jpg
which turned out to be not nearly as tough as he thought. He's not the hardcore type, just recently getting rid of his stock tires after 70k miles for some BFG ATs. The only reason he's using the come-along is for the sake of trying it out, another X popped him out with a strap shortly after.

Again, just clearing things up, not swinging either way in the debate....

Oh, about the rollovers: The first one was from the edge of the road giving way. The second was (as the owner's clan likes to say) OPERATOR ERROR, a bit too much gusto after repeated attempts to climb the hill. There's one more rollover you'll probably dig up, but it too was the ultimate result of a ledge giving way. Nobody was even in the vehicle when it went over.

I will do my best to approach this in a civilized manner. Even though your comments on this site have angered me.

My attitude from the beginning is a helluva lot more inviting to newcomers and stock trucks

This site is not intended to cater to stock trucks and newcomers. Thus, no one will welcome you when you have no desire to leave this state behind. Anyone can wheel a stocker, but having no desire to improve it over stock will not help them to mesh into this site.

Bring it on you white trash rednecks

I will wager that the majority of people on this board are neither white trash nor rednecks (depending on your definition of the two terms). But, I will also wager that the majority of the members on this site will bring it, whatever it is you may want, and they'll make you look stupid.

If you ran down the spec list on members I'm positive there are many who make just as much, if not more money than you (which seems to be important to you).

I personally would not consider myself either of the two. I'm a college educated chemical engineer, but yet you generalize this site and insult me.

it appears to be the only way to communicate with the low-brow half-evolved apes

You will not be welcomed here posting things like this, it's a prime example of ignorance.

I was warned that if I speak up here you guys will rip me a new ass

So the reason you did was obviously just to irritate and anger, very intelligent.

Accept the fact that our daily drivers also do double duty on the trail. We scoot off to work in style and comfort, and still manage to get up the trails

I don't know many who would call the stuff I saw trails. My guess is that your co-workers would and that makes you feel good about yourself. Then some folks here busted your bubble and you got angry resulting in insulting us all.

When I was in college (only 1 yr ago) I saw your type all the time. Come walking into my bar (forgot to mention I was a bouncer there) with your stuck up proffesional attitude. Out for a night on the town. Decided to hit a college bar so you could stare at the girls who never give you the time of day. You feel like your better than the rest because your out of school and making money. Even though you only have an Xterra (face it they are not that nice, or a very expensive ride). Then you get shot down a few times, made fun of (just like when you were young), and then you try to start shit because your offended (just like now). Here's the best part... Then I come up and tell you to chill and you don't. I'm sure you all know what happens next, you (yes you jens) get put in your place (just like now). Usually we liked to aviod throwing punches so we'd choke your type out. Next we'd usually drag you out side and hold you down until the cops came and took you to jail, while you cried about how we should just let you leave, and you weren't trying to start shit (just like now).

Just like you are crying now because your perception of yourself has been shattered while you realize your aren't cool and those of us here laugh at your type.

Oh how I wish I could turn back the clock and meet you and your attitude at my old bar tonight.:flipoff2:

I apologize for the off tech rant, but people like this make me angry, very angry

NOW THOSE ARE SOME X'S THAT I WOULD DRIVE!! (Xplorers that is) Those are in AZ aren't they?

And Brandon, kudos to your wife! I hope I can find a girl who likes to wheel as much as I do... That little course you had her on was MUCH more impressive than the other videos...

Which pretty much lends credence to the theory posited earlier that, based on the average owner's driving skill, XTerra's do about as well completely unmanned as they do driven by their owners!

Just curious... What part of "Who Cares!" is getting past y'all?

This statement should net another 5 pages :D
X-Terd owner: So now your saying you have more experience than I
X-Terd owner: So just because you break and I don’t cause I am a better driver means your better than I
And then blah, blah, blah, again :crybaby2:

For the love of Dog (not mustard variety), make it stop! :D

I felt sorry for those involved at first but now this is getting so funny I am splitting a gut over here.

Please, make it stop!

I promise to never stare at a roadside accident again. :D

FUCK YOU X-TERRA FAGS

YOUR JUST PISSED BECAUSE YOU JUST REALIZED YOU WASTED ALL YOUR MONEY ON SOME POS NISSAN

MY 2-WHEEL DRIVE FORD COURIER HAS SEEN HARDER TRAILS THAN YOU

if money is suck a big concern then why not buy a nice soccer mom mobile and a trail rig and wheel the trail rig on wheekends and drive some cheaper but better car to work.

you also claim to be "suits" which implies you make a lot of money (to compesate for small penis and shitty truck) which is why i wonder about you saying you have no money. because first you say you have no money then you say you make a lot of money. I am confused, did you waste it all on VIAGRA?

Ah...can't you just feel the testosterone flying around here? I think the maturity and IQ's of people drop a few points when they start posting on these boards.

Hey, I work with my hands...but that's not relavent.

The Xterra is my first 4-wheel vehicle and it's fun to drive. I'm actually quite surprised at what it can do. Eventually, if I decide to get more serious with 4-wheeling, I'll have someone fab me a custom jobby that I can roll over anything with, but until that time, even a stock Xterra can do some climbing...I made it both days, wet and dry in a totally stock Xterra.

It's still wet (it's the Pacific NW, it rains a lot here)

Yes, that's a jeep stuck next to the Xterra.

It's ok if you want to flame or what not. I work around people with international sized egos all day long...and some of them probably even deserve to have it, so I've developed a thick skin. However, mindless name calling doesn't even deserve a first glance much less a complete reading.

Well I WAS gonna kill this thread, but it's just too amusing to be for some sick reason. :D superjenny, or whatever your name is, you will never change anyone's minds here. This board isn't about beginners, and it definitely isn't about overpriced IFS piece of crap daily drivers. If we want to laugh at your video, we will. Accept it. Trying to talk tough here and justifying your lameness just makes you look like a clown.

Ya know, I'd go wheelin with ya, but I think I'd rather let my wife make you look stupid:

But when you brag about your truck with it's locked diffs and it's a daily driver and you still smash it up every time you get out there ... who are you trying to impress?

I just have to agree with skank. You SO don't know what the average person is on this board that your looking like a moron and embarressing some others on this board who may have started off like you guys. Hell..I started wheeling in a 2WD!! Amigo! (and did damn well I might add), then bought a cheap japanese IFS 4x4 to play and now have a Samurai. If your really into this stuff you'll probably do the same.

For the record...dents aren't to be ashamed of, they're proof that your trying hard. I bet you get upset if you get a boo-boo on your knee as well?

Can I poke fun too? :D

I don't know what the average person is on this board, but the average person you meet on the trail driving a chopped up old beater with gigantic tires, spewing diesel and engine dying every 30 feet, etc. more often than not fits into the redneck, blue collar, Budweiser-drinking stereo type. This is, of course, a generalization, but it's based on what I have personally observed on the trails. BTW, I don't drink lattes or beer. :)

And whoever was making fun of mountain bikes, do you know how to ride one? You know, you actually have to be in shape and have a lot more physical skill than is required to drive a motorized vehicle. No boo-boo on my knee nor broke bones yet (knock on wood) but I have cracked a helmet and dressed my own wounds after taking off a few layers of skin. Scars and dents on your truck are not as impressive as scars on your skin. :)

Ok, so you guys want to rip on the Xterra because it isn't a giant rockcrawling, mudbogging monster, huh? And we must be :rainbow: (let's be big boys and say it, Gay) to own one, huh?

Well, I own one. This is my first vehicle that I purchased, and I could only afford to buy and own one vehicle. I like to offroad, but I need my vehicle to be street legal. Along with other reasons, this is why I bought my Xterra. Someday, I hope to be building a hardcore rockcrawling monster to do some of the same things you are all doing.
