I know this is a long shot but could it be this easy-
I have a 96 351w out of a f-250 it is speed density
i need to convert it to mass air
other than buying a 600$ kit from ford can i try this
get a 93 mustang computer 5.0 mass air and the sensor follow the wiring diagrams for each computer pinout and swap the needed sensors to the right pin on the mass air computer, add the mass air to the harness, and eliminate unneeded things like emmisions and egr and the old map sensor?
am i right in assuming that these are both small block efi fords that take the same sensors to function properly and just getting the wires to the right pins will do it and yes this motor has 19# injectors like a mustang gt

You can do that. I think I remember someone saying they spliced the wires on their existing harness with some mustang harness wires. The mustang harness has almost all the same plugs anyways though. Let me know if you need a mass air computer I have a spare A9L lying around. I also have an Anderson PMS if you want to tune that sucker up good.
PS keep the EGR. The only way to really get rid of it is to do it inside the computer too. The computer advances timing a lot when exhaust gas enters the chambers again. If it's getting fresh air it may detonate.

if you have a manual trans you can buy a 40 dollar harness from a mustang perf supplier with all the directions i did it on mine real easy. if you have a auto trans the comp controls the trans and you are limited to computers for that application a mustang one wont work.

you would be incorrect. unless you are going to use a complete sefi car harness.
the truck harness is mpi, the car computer is sefi.
you want to keep the map part of the harness and leave vacuum off of the sensor or buy a new bp unit so the maf pcm knows what the elevation is. you can dump the egr but the pcm programmking need to be modded or a bridge resistor setup like ryan uses and sells to fake a signal for things to wrk best overall. cause the pcm alters timing to compensate for egr flow at cruise.

You really don't need MAF....learn how to use Tweecer and get the speed density system to do what ever you want :flipoff2:

came off the hip and bought a take out harness and computer from a 93 5.0
a9l computer
so ill be cutting it down next week
cant wait for that fun in the middle of the shop floor
but all in all it shouldnt be that bad using a set of 24lb injectors and a mass air left over from my drag racing days
next up is headers and some 1.6 rockers and a good cam maybe some head work

does not matter, as long as the mass air meter is matched to the injectors on a mustang computer it will be able to compensate as long as the MAF is big enough to allow for all of the air moving into the engine.
