I'm just looking for some helpful suggestions about what dana 44 will best fit my 89 xj. driver drop. What year waggys will work? Let me know b/c you gotta know more than me.

I have an 83 waggy with driver drop and manual hubs and a matching rear amc 20 both have spare shafts and I am about 2 hours a way (could meet you some were. $650 for the set with shafts. of $550 for just the front.

Waggy would be easiest because it is very close to your stock WMS-WMS, but its low pinion, and marginal in strength to a HP30. So, if you have time, you could find a HP44 out of a 77.5-79 F150-F250, and shorten that to waggy width and run waggy shafts with a 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

I would really like to see numbers backing that up...I'd take a LP 44 over a HP 30 just about any day.
Not to mention the MUCH stronger housing, MUCH better brakes, stronger shafts, bolt on lockouts, stronger bearing setup........

a waggy 44 will work just fine
bear in mind that you will have to set up the brackets for your control arms
i am starting the samw swap this week
i will be doing a custom 4 link and new subframe design, i post pice when i get started
