What's the biggest you can go and keep it reliable and not be breaking birfs and axleshafts? I'm going to go SOA and do as much cutting as needed. I'll get gears too, not worried about that part.

31's!!!
If you go 33's with lockers you are going to start breaking birfields and such...

32x11.50's worked great for nearly two years before I went to 33's. I had twisted an axle with my 30's, I think it occured while trying to pull another Zuk up a hill. The axle lasted for two years with the 32's before I replaced it as a precautionary measure. I think you can cheat if you go skinny, I know a guy who's run 33x9.50's for years with no breakage and now runs 33x10.50 swampers. As always your results may vary.

If I'm easy on it, will regular 33x12.50's work OK? Any experience with those? I don't want to go TOO skinny. Although I probably will just go with 33x10.50 swampers from the sounds of it

i had 33x12.50"s on my last zuki for about a year, and i could squeel those things around the courner on pavement and never broke an axle or anything.......stock axles, stock gears, but no lockers.....it was my "beater" and the tires were shity anyways so it didn't matter to me.......

I had 33x12.50 Swamper Radials for a long time...busted a birfield here and there but they worked out pretty well!! I had them on an 8" wheel with standard backspacing...I moved up to the 10" wheel and the 33x14 boggers....and then things started breaking fast!!!
I would say SPOA with YJ's on 33x12.50 Swampers with an 8" Rim....then gears and lockers.
No cutting involved!

I've had 32x11.50 tires for four years with a twin cam and never blown anything and I beat the hell out of it...not even 5.13 gears... 33" tires are pushing it.. I would never go higher than 32" tires...

i know people who can and do snap em with 31's but 33's seem to be the majic nuber where they really start snapping. i know a guy who runs 33x12.5 mtr's on his with b/field rings and he does ok but he is easy on the go-go pedal too. if you want 33's go for it. if you start breaking stuff swap in a set of wagoneer dana44's or toy axles.
