today I picked up a 1356 case after poping it open it well be simple to make a doubler kit for them but I don`t know chit about them.

Do 1356 cases have the same center bolt pattern as the 1354/1350 cases?
Do they all share the same shaft as to the planetary gear end?
what years did ford use what cases?

Thanks
Duffy

The 1350 and 1354 have a 25 spline input shaft and a 5 bolt trasnmission to transfer case mounting pattern. The 1356 and 1345 have a 31 spline input and a 6 bolt mounting pattern.

Someone on some of the BroncoII sites is doing doublers on not too sure if its the 1345 or 1356. Buddy of mine has one, I'll get more info from him.

actually the 1345 has 32 splines instead of 31 like the 1356....well mine does. i tried fitting a flange from a 1356 onto my 1345 because i had a yoke. it didnt fit so i got a 32 spline flange from High Angle. A np205 32 spline flange works too, just need to mill down the outter dia. to fit inside of the 1345 seal

Gary Yorston is making doublers using 1350 or 1354 planetaries.

Try this:

The RRORC guys are way ahead of the curve on making doublers for the Ranger/BII/Explorer platform.

I don't have a link because I don't think he has a website, builds them out of his garage. His is a cast aluminum housing, not a cut down stock transfer case. I believe it is 8" long so that stubler is much shorter. I am sure that a couple of the guys in Vancouver B.C. might have more info.

BTT,
I know this is an old thread, just wonderin' if there was any progress on this doubler?
I'm considering 1356-205 doubler (swapping Foerd 31 spline input into GM passenger side drop 205 in my Scout. I know that the 31 spline output from the 1356 would fit the ford 205 input and I could just hang it off the back of the 1356, but I don't have the wheelbase to do that.

I think the hold up would be getting the spud shaft made.

Duffy, how many kits would you have to sell to make it worth your while? According to larboc's 1356-205 doubler thread, you would have quite a few interested customers.

The cutn'weld shaft would obviously be a weak point, Could you make this as one piece shaft?

i don't know if this will help but ...

a friend is a machinist and he made a 1345 doubler in his spare time ...

when i discussed the shaft between the two he didn't know what it would cost but he said any competent machinst should be able to make one ...
