: your dream tire size?
how come i always seem to want a tire size nobody makes?
somebody has to start making a true 40" tire since all the rock crawl orgs seem to use that as a size limit for rigs.
my dream tire would be a 40 x 14 x 17 tsl sx
so what tire size do think would be optimum ?
Lance 04-02-2002, 06:25 PM While schmoozing with the BFG guys in Farmington, they told me they are planning on possibly making something in the 40" range. :cool2:
I agree though, a 40 X 14 SX would be sick.
Cheepin 04-02-2002, 06:32 PM I want to run a 42" swamper.I like the looks of this size and they are not as wide as the 44"s.But I need to swap over to 1 ton first.Blazin:rasta:
IMHO - a 42x15.50 SX carcass with TSL center tread, Bogger lugs out to the edges, and the side lugs of the Thornbird....
RE:Todd 04-02-2002, 06:36 PM I went from high pressure skinny's (No Camo, they're not my trailering tires :D:D:D, or was that training :D:D:D) to 35's. Now I'm thinking 36's in a TSL. Nica's on 38's but that's two Birfs a trip. Is there an ultimate tire size???
road1will 04-02-2002, 06:48 PM 42x16 bogger for an 18" rim
(custom cut of course)
Custom cut 39.5x15x16.5 Boggers that will last for 40,00 miles:D

So just what part of that do you think would not work well?

This is more accurate from my perspective... with 44's already, I'm pretty happy with size... I just wish I'd gotten four TSL's instead of two Boggers and two TSL's. Then again, now that they're flat (flat flat flat, I think the Boggers are at about zero psi) they hook up pretty well, so I'm OK with 'em.

Krylon.. 04-03-2002, 10:37 AM Camo - one guy above said his 42's measure 40" mounted...
Here is what the ARCA rules state:
3. Tire size limits is 40" measured using a measuring device and measuring actual diameter on the wheels that will be used for competition with the vehicle on the ground measuring in a horizontal plane at the tire center line.
So could you run 42's if they only measure 40" mounted while the vehilce is on the ground? It doesn't say anything about what the sidewall says...

That can't be good for your neck. Ouch!
9.00X16 TSL. Essentially a 36X9, but it can't be STAMPED "36" 'cause that would throw me out of the "under 36" class. And since we're dreaming, make it a light 2-ply sidewall for reduced weight & better wrinkle. Then, increase the tread depth from the 27/32's you find on 34's to a full inch or better. And go ahead & scallop all of the lugs to make it a directional tire - has to be done at the factory since I'm not allowed to modify the tread. Oh, and don't forget the DOT stamp :D
And just for fun, fire me up a set of Q78 Boggers. I'll let ya know which ones I like best ;)

High5 11-15-2002, 10:14 AM i really like my 42's but my dream tire would be 42 tsl's with the side wall of a sx. i had 38.5 sx's before the 42's and 35 tsl's before the sx's. tsl's are softer and grip better. they have larger and deeper lugs for equally sized tires. like i said the tsl's grip better in soft dirt and on rocks. the down side is the side walls. i never had a problem with my 35's but i have alreay cut a side wall on one of my 42's and all of the others have gouges bad enough that i can see the cord. they are the best gripping tire i have run but i would love to have the stouter side walls and side lugs to boot. anyway i can dream can't i?
