I have read some of the past posts on moving the box and axle forward, but I need some help. Here is what im working with. Fullwidth Dana 60 front, 39.5" Boggs, tie rod in stock position(below springs), Hydro assist ram mounted to tie rod/axle, pass side arm with drag link to the IFS box. None of this is mounted yet, I just need ideas. I was wanting to move the front axle forward 4-5" at least from the stock location. The front of my frame( 84 4runner) is bare, no stock mounts, just the cross brace. I intend on making a new front drop hanger( moved forward to accomodate longer springs). But I am keping the shackle in the stock location on the frame. I am going to reinforce the frame where the box mounts obviosly, but I am curios if I can even get the IFS box to work with the axle that far. I will cut as much of the body off to allow it farther, but would rather not lose that body mount. Any ideas??

Anyone know whats involved with say mounting the pass side arm backwards facing the back of the axle, and turning the pitman backward, something kinda like Rockstomper did with the Mantis?? I wouldn't have to move the box so far forward then?? Possible?

Just do what Booger Welds did and you should be fine. You know you can move the axle forward 2" or so w/o problems and I think he moved his box forward like 2-3".

Your TR is under the springs so you don't even need to worry about TR/DL interference which was his main concern. You might even be able to get away w/ not moving the box at all, but it wouldn't be ideal since the DL would be at kind of an angle to the axle (front to back).

If you move your box forward 3" and your axle forward 5", as far as the DL is concerned, you only moved the axle forward 2"... (or 3" if you move the box 2", etc.

If you mount steering arm backwards and the box behind that, you'd have to move the box back like a couple of feet...
I think Scott moved his axle forward like 18" and moved the box back quite a bit too (a foot or so?), so unless you're doing what Scott did, that's not really going to work.

Thanks for the info Erik. I kinda figured that The box would have to be moved way back to do it like Scott's. I think im going to try the front axle forward 5" and the Box 3", thing is I dont have any box on there and never have since I pulled the push pull one off. So I guess the box needs to be as far as I can forward!!

it not that hard! 2.5 inches forward on the box. i have a 2 inch body lift so the cutting into the body mount and radiator core support were minimal...i had a plasma torch so it was actually a lot eaiser than i thought..
