i was skrewwing around home today and realized that there is an fairly new(late 80s early 90s) junked ford econoline 350 van sitting near my house. so i looked under it and it looks to have a d44 thats sprung over, but im not sure..does anyone know what kinda of axles came under those vans, oh and its 2wd. also could that be adapted to fit an xj or would it be too wide. cause if its a 44 or an 8.8 that would be awsome. anyways any help on this would be great!!!
thanks

if it is a 350 like you say it is definatly not a d44 or 8.8. i personally am not sure as to what years came with what but it'll be a d60, d61, or a d70. is it a full floater or a semi floater?

a full floater will have the wheel hub sticking out of the center of the rim. it will have bolt heads on the end of that. the bolts (could be studs and nuts) are holding the axle shaft in. anyway semi floaters do not. my guess is that if it is a 350 then it will be a flull floater. if you crawl under neath it does it hace a small metal tag held on with one of the diff bolts? if so what ratio does it have? also alot of the dana axles have what it is cast into the pumpkin somewhere. look and see if you can find it. i have seen it in different places on different axles and some don't have it at all but most do. go check it out.
