rocktoy4me 04-02-2002, 08:38 PM OK....check engine light came on...blahblahblah...ran the engine check...says knock censor is bad. (This is my girlfriends 90 4runner with a 3VZE in it) Question is??? Where the hell is it?? Is it the censor inbetween the heads on the top of the block under the intake??? could not find it in the wonderful Haney's manual. Upon Toy mechanics, most of the time the trouble is caused by the wire between the knock sensor itself and the connector (near the throttle body). I had head gasket's service campaign and they changed the wire just in case. But! But I got the knock sensor ECU code after that change. They had to lift the intake manifold and change the knock sensor, the brand new wire. And trouble code disappears. Have fun! P.O. P.S.: By the way, the knock sensor was back ordered for 3 weeks since it lasts long. Cryslr 04-03-2002, 12:20 PM Yeah I changed mine when I did my Rebuild, but I routined the wire out the back of the engine, and made some longer wires. I'm thinking this wil be a better route.
