Many people don't even run prop-valves... try it first without and see if you need it.

Thanks I will try it without first and see what happens. I'm just ready to get the damn thing going again. And for winter to be over.:cool2:

Im not running either in my 89 Sub with discs and it stops on a dime. My master cylinder is leaking so im looking to replace it with an upgraded one but if it wasn't i wouldn't even think twice about it.

I haven't needed different prop valve in any of the conversions I've done.

If the original proportioning valve works thats great. However, not running a prop valve invites problems. The proportioning valve regulates flow and pressure to each axle, not running gives equal proportion of flow to the front and rear, the problem is that the rear almost always weighs less than the front, therefore the rear locks up first, allowing the rear to come around in a sudden stop or very steep controlled descent. Now you don't want that do you? Get a proportioning valve. Period. Its your ass.

How about some more info... You guys who don't run them, do you still run the stock CV? Are all four of your calipers the same or did you do the HD calipers front and stock calipers rear?

I think Gravel is right to a point, it just depends on the vehicle. I have 89 Sub on 33's with 3/4 ton rotors all round with standard 3/4 ton loaded calipers from my parts store on all 4. I have had NO PROBLEMS whatsoever with stopping and would do the conversion again in a heartbeat! I do miss the Ebrake but I am going to run JB conversions SYE kit on my 241c with High Angles T-case Ebrake kit, you can get everything you need from them.

A resto parts vendor I know says that the brass prop valves like Inline/Classic Tube, et al sell is an ACDelco part. Check for a 4-wheel disc truck prop valve from an ACDelco parts supplier. About $60.
