4x4realm 04-02-2002, 10:20 PM Don't pay any attention to people giving you shit. I've always liked lifted burbs. Yours looks like it turned out sweet.
Lloyd 04-03-2002, 06:22 AM Looks really good. Nothing like 'em for taking the family or party on the trail. I started one recently but my wife nixed it because the body was too far gone.
white knight 04-03-2002, 06:44 AM Looks much better :)
jjlaw 04-03-2002, 10:00 AM I guess if they give me crap about a lifted burb than they are really gona hate me for my other lifted toy 9" of lift and 35s and climbs like a mtn goat

sunshineoffroad 04-03-2002, 06:53 PM Much better. I dunno of one kid who wouldn't want to ride that bus to school. :D
1Burb1Scotch1Beer 04-04-2002, 05:35 PM Are your wheels 16 inch or 15 inch? If 15's what back spacing did you get to clear your front calipers? I'm putting 39.5 boggers on mine but I want to go with 15 inch rims. I'd like to minimize caliper grinding.
Your burb is looking good!

I'm running 15X10 with 2.5 inch backspacing without grinding. My budy is running the same rims on a 60 front without grinding. the 2.5 bs also clears the rear disks.
Desertdueler 04-04-2002, 07:14 PM Looks like its time to cut the fenders becasue those are going to rub like mad. I had 35s on my Burb with a 4" lift and they rubbed all the time, so I stepped down to 33s and raised it an 1" more, and they still rubbed, so I went back to 35s and used a hammer to fix my rubbing problem. Its my daily driver/tow rig to, not even my wheler:D
ranger 04-05-2002, 07:14 AM Your gonna need to do some body trimming or the fenders are going to take a bite out of those tires.
What kind of gears are your running?
Your burb is lookin sweet, now you have the ultimate family/tow mobile!:skull:
jjlaw 04-05-2002, 02:20 PM I don't know what the back spacing is I bought the tires and rims used for 300.00 and no rubbing but you can't put wheel wieghts on stick ons are ripped off by the caliper and bead wieghts are ripped off by the tie-rods had to put balancing powder in works great.....my burb is my 60mile a day daily driver stock gears for now its alittle sluggish but still does 65 o.k and thats fast for SO.CAL rush hour fwys and the only rubbing I get is on the front part of the fender at full cock and its very minor a little griding will taqke care of that....but just got a new burb today 87 with a 4" rancho with 9000at all 4s 33" full power rear air and all three seat will post pic of the new one soon....
jjlaw 04-08-2002, 06:10 PM just got another one this weekend now I have to find a place to park all my trucks...I guess on top of the neibors cars

jjlaw 04-24-2002, 02:16 PM can you get pics of the wheel cutout want to cut mine but want it to still look good like those
pitter 04-24-2002, 04:35 PM Thats a sweet burb, and yes u will be fender cuttin my friend has a 81 chev with 11" of lift and he has a little tire rub with 38's, we gotta burb around here on 44's and the thing is a giant.
white knight 04-25-2002, 09:08 PM I'll see if I have any more pics of his burb. Looks like to cut just before the inner fenders. If you want I can pm you his addy
SCOTTS_4X 08-14-2002, 08:24 PM that's a sweet burb your friend has there knight, just one question though, do you have a larger version of that pic? I'd like to see what's going on with the front suspension there, looks like blocks(!?) under the springs or something, springs are definately not close enough to the axle......just curious...........
-Scott
4x4realm 08-15-2002, 11:21 AM they look like the ord zero rated 1 in springs that are center pin mounted and can be used to move the axel 1 in or 1.5 in forward or backward. Basicly a 1 in block that uses the center pin.
drunkmarine 08-15-2002, 02:53 PM kickass. huge trucks with big tires are what its all about.
SCOTTS_4X 08-15-2002, 08:13 PM blocks of any kind between a steering axle and it's suspension would be something that I would avoid at all cost, as the twisting motion of the steering could spit the block, I thin kI'd be all about moving the springs if I needed the axle to be moved....anyways.......just my .02
70~K5 08-15-2002, 09:43 PM Are blocks really blocks when they're part of the spring pack? Or are they a short spring leaf? That's up to each to decide, but I have no problems using ORD's zero rates. :D
ok we are not on CK5 here so lets call them blocks rather then 'zero rates'
the spring centre bolts break all the time and having a 1" BLOCK isnt helping that any
not to mention the spring centre bolt is a tiny little unrated fastener
so using it to hold a front block in place does not fill me with giggles

OK so the overload leafs on my rear packs are 15/16"s thick, so what's the difference from them and some 1" zero rates? And I've seen 3/4" blocks from the factory on a '72 K20. Since I knew the oringal owner of the truck and he didn't put or have the blocks put on the truck. They came on it from the factory. Also I had a broken bottom leaf on a big rig trailer, couldn't get a new spring for a couple of days and the CHP wouldn't let the trailer leave the scale till fixed. We cut the leaf just outside the u bolts and that was fine with the inspectors and they signed off the ticket and let the trailer leave. That spring pack had 3 main leafs and we cut one leaf down.
70~K5 08-21-2002, 05:46 PM My '88 Pete big rig has 3.75" blocks between the front axle and the springs from the factory. I looked at 3 other Petes in the yard where I park mine and they all had them. I know it's not a driven axle, but under braking torque you'd get the reverse of power to it. I've never seen one of these blocks been spit out. And Ive run this axle loaded heavy for 4.5 years now. So what about that MJ?

You sure are an argumentative SOB. You take that peterbuilt on the trails much? Got a lift of some sorts, and loads of flex do ya'?
70~K5 08-22-2002, 12:16 PM Well Aggro I do drive it off the road a lot as I have a Tranfer dump rig. Been on some real goat trails for a truck of that size. Played in the mud on jobs. Been buried where it took a D9 cat dozer to pull me out. No extra lift and the frame doesn't flex much as it's a 3/8" main frame with a 1/4" inside the rear 2/3rds. And Pete air track rear suspention sucks off road.
onetoncv 08-23-2002, 01:21 PM just got done with mine too - yours look nice-Jess
Erich In AZ 08-23-2002, 01:47 PM Here's a poser shot of my DD 'burb with a 4" and 33's on 10" wheels. It stuffs the front tires against the fenders. I can't imagine 2 more inches of lift and 5.5" bigger tires is going to be any better. Unless that is, it's a street queen.

BadBowtie 08-26-2002, 10:37 PM Your burb looks good.I had a 75 with 6" lift and 38.5" and only had to do a little fender trimming to the front and back of the fenders.I now have a 73 Chevy PU with 6" lift and the 38.5" SX Swampers and had to trim too. They didn't rub and full stuff.Once again its lookin good.
