: Should this section be harder?

Core that is. I've notice over the past year or so that there are a lot of 'basic why didn't you search?' or crap about your car or your girlfriends DD Esclade questions. Please take a minute and complete the survey.

Ummm, the Esclade questions would be more appropriate in the Chevy section of the board.

we get the occasional stupid question here, but for the most part I think its fine. But that's coming from a newbie stupid ass.

Tell ya the truth I dont go to the stupid post, so I dont really get bothered by them. I assume there are a few but not many.

I dont mind them, but i also dont think taht they belong here either... I dont think we should flame the people out for asking dumb questions... unless its a mallcrawler Q. Other than the posers, we should help them or redirect them to a better website more suited for their questions.

Well my post count isn't large but I don't think of myself as a newbie. I think if a newbie has a question about a 4x4 question about fords, its reasonable for them to post it. Also it is reasonable for some of the other more knowledgeable members to help them out. In which I think you guys have been doing an excellent job. I know I have received help from the ford thread. So I agree with Nickm in that if you think they are a waste of your time then don't look at them.
No one knows everthing and every one has to start some where.

If you need to ask a question here, then you aren't hard core. If you're hard core, then you don't need to ask questions! Put up a closed sign and redirect to the heep section :flipoff2:

I don't want to vote really. I think it's going good though. The shit questions usually are washed to the latter pages because the board has a lot of activity. It's dynamic the way it is now.

For the most part newb posts don't bug me all that much but I would like to see an axle FAQ sticky...as in 8.8 and 9". For example, it seems like the question of what years did 8.8's come with disc brakes. How many times does this need to be answered?:shaking:

Pirate is supposed to be rude but helpful. A lot of these posts waste other peoples' time. The search isn't THAT hard to use.

My idea is that everyone is a newbie once -- and they need a hand up sometimes. Some of us that have played the game learned from someone else a long time ago -- why not share what we know.

It's not as if it takes anything away from us to share with others. We'll always be a step ahead anyway.

Can they find some of the info they are needing by searching -- probably. Is it just easier to ask a question? Yup. It can take hours of searching and reading to catch up to a problem, and sometimes there are people on board that can just answer off the top of their heads.

Besides, from what I have seen, more than half of the people that think they are hard core are probably not -- and vice versa. All of us have a different definition of hard core depending on where we live, where we wheel, etc. To some, hard core is being able to punch through a mud hole -- to others it is the ability to get vertical on a rock face -- each wheels in their own back yard with their own junk. Let it be. It's good for the sport.

What do you know, your wife drives a Jeep. :flipoff2: Bitchslappin' for you buddy.

In his defense she drives an Exploder, he drive and EB and wheels a BII, there is no jeep there but I do know someone who's wife drives a KIA :D

Seriously though I think it's fine, there are plenty of BS questions. One that comes to mind is "EB NP435 swap" I have covered that subject myself a bunch of times as well as the hundreds of times it's been covered by others and to see it again makes me just ignore it (I know that search is down and that it has been covered I am not bashing anyone just an example).

I think that the Ford section is slow enough that a few BS posts are not screwing anything up.

I don't realy care about stupid questions because some one always jumps in and "bitch slaps" them anyway before I get too it...just kidding. I try to answer them fair most of the time. if I don't feel like answering then I don't. if they are smart they will search.

The FORD section should be fro anyone and everyone. The more hardcore guys go to the General 4x4 section anyways.

I think we do a fairly good job of policing are own here better than some sites. But if we lose that "edge" then dumbfawkism runs rampant then we should get nasty.

Like when we start getting questions like:

"What size tires can I put on my stock Tempo? Do you think it will go through a mud puddle if I put 205's on it?"

I've always considered the Ford section like the creaky floored, smoke filled room behind an old general store....full of vinegary old men who know their trade sitting around jaw jacking. You must approach them with a rather wise question or you will end up on the front porch knitting with the ladies.....:flipoff2:
