: Another conversion question....keep stock drive shafts?

I have all the parts (I hope) and I'm doing a YJ conversion. 2.5L, 5 speed to a 4.3L with 700r. My question......has anybody had any luck keeping the stock shafts by keeping the T/C in the same location? I'm using an AA adapter plate, but I think I can move the 4.3L forward enough in the engine bay to keep the T/C in the stock location?

My intention is to go spring over with a SYE eventually, so I don't want to fork out a bunch of cash on shafts just yet.

Please respond if you have done this conversion with the same thoughts in mind and were/wern't able to do this.

if you can keep the transfer case in the same location, it should work out for you. But... I would recomend doing this all at once(engine swap and spring over, maybe shackle reversal if you plan on doing this) so you can garuntee that you will only need one new set of shafts. You would be lucky if you could get it to work out so stock shafts work after engine swap. It may be better to get the proper drive lines then try to cram the new engine into the rear of the engine compartment. You could always try.

Good Luck

You can usually get them shortened/lengthened for about $100/ea. Rather than moving the whole drivetrain around to match driveshaft length, better to spend the extra cash and make it work right.

yeah do as many drive line altering mods at once as you can because getting new d-shafts all the time sucks. my buddy jeeper111 has like 2000 in d-shafts alone because he can't make up his mind
