I was looking at chromos for the polished turd :shaking: and noticed that they make 30 spline outers for the Scout 44. Can I switch to these with different spindles etc. from my 27 spliners?

Any input is appreciated

Who's "They"?? Sure, if you find a 30 spline hub.

"They"= Warn. So the spindles and bearings are the same?

Edit-Warn lists two different "premium" hub part numbers but they (Warn that is :p ) don't give the spline count, I'll look into it.

Follow the link on their handy dandy chart and it will explain. It has the answer to your question, imagine that, right there in the chart, all you had to do is click! Or, if you prefer LOOK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE CHART!!! However I do find it odd, they offer a 30 spline axle for the Scout II, but no 30 spline hub.

I'd love to find a 1986 Scout II BTW:flipoff2:

I'm a dumbass :D . So with that out of the way, has anyone bored their spindles to 1.35"? Any problems?

There is one giant problem. You can't get a hub for the conversion, that will bolt onto your standard Scout II disc.

It looks like you can, Warn hub conversion PN-61650 but it's $345  If they did it I think I can probably mix and match the right parts to get it to work. I am running the Chevy outer knuckles redrilled for the scout spindles if that makes a difference at all.

I'll check more into this tomorrow. Not really wanting to spend a bunch of money (well, more anyways) on this thing but if I can get 30 spline outers for a reasonable amount I might do it.

If you dig a little deeper youll find that warn is the only company that makes 30 spline stubs. And they are 8.74 long so they will only work with thier hub cnversion kits, or a bored out cj or scout spindle. I dont know if the scout spindle has enough meat on it. I bored a regular chev 44 spindle for my rear FF 44 conversion. Enought meat there, but no stubs for the 9.75 length spindle. I went through all this a month ago. You cant shorten inner and re-spline it cuz you need a place for the needle bearing to ride.

Why in the hell didnt you just run the chev stuff with ford rotors? Then you wouldnt have this problem. I have Warn chromo's in my waggy front. Cant wait to test them:evil:

I started this before I knew about the chev/ford option. I may end up going that route anyway but ran into some Scout chromos and started searching. I really don't want to get to deep into 27 spline outers or the 44 for that matter. Just want a little more peace of mind with 36" Iroks. Maybe a little late for that  :(

Edit:
FYI you can get the hub conversion for $280 if you do some looking and that comes with the "premium" Warn 30sp internal hubs. 30sp chromo outers are about $122 a piece. If you already have chromo inners then it's a substantial upgrade from the 19 or especially the 27 spline stuff.

Just thought I'd share some info, probably going to end up picking up parts here and there. And yes I know, should have built a 60, used chevy/ford combo, etc. I'm sure I'm not the only dumbass out there that's built a 44...:flipoff2:
