: Dana 300 homemade flip measurement question

I've read through all the flip threads on the Dana 300, and didn't see this information posted.

What is the measurement from the plane of the case (where the access cover was) to a line drawn across the centerline of the holes that the shift rails pass through if you reuse the stock portion of the housing with the detents and seals?

If the measurement that I am asking for is not clear, let me know.

Thanks,

Good ???

Someone answer this please. Would give me a point of reference before I hack into it.

do you have the case? get a set of calipers.

I do have the case, but the measurement I need is not possible to get without building a flip kit and reusing the stock shifter housing portion, hence my question.

To possibly state it more clearly, assume the centerlines of the shift rails are parallel to the plane of the mounting surface of the access cover. How far above the access cover plane are these lines.

Nort- pull the cover on an assembled 300, measure the perp drop from that face to the installed shift rail, then add 1/2 the shift rail dia and you have that number. The real deal is to replicate the dimension from the centerline of the gear assy's to the shift rails.

No offense, but if you have to do too much head scratching over this you might be a good candidate for someone's kit.

In this picture:

What is the distance between the centerline of the shift rails and the original access cover mounting surface?

I know I could pop the cover off, measure it, and calculate it, but I am feeling *lazy*, and I figure that since people have already done this, they might have the measurement handy, and could simply tell me.
