: Spidertrax Front Coil Kit?
TNToy 09-18-2001, 01:30 PM
I was reading around on extreme4x4.com about the arachnid (new Spidertrax rig) and they said the following:
"Up front, there are 12" static 3.5" OD 150-pound coils and a 4-link suspension with Panhard bar. The front suspension is soon to be available over-the-counter as a Spidertrax kit."
Here's a link (http://www.extreme4x4.com/vol7num8/arachnid/page4.html) to the page I pulled the quote from. Sometimes the page comes up as a broken link. Hitting the refresh button solves the problem.
And here's a pic of the front suspension (caption below):

The lower front control arms of the three-link/coil front setup are long and strong. They're also almost level at static height. The entire undercarriage is powdercoated.

fatkid 09-19-2001, 12:38 PM I like the Spidertrax gear, although it cost caaaaaaash for there suspension set ups. Anyone run there 1/4 rear kit around here?
TATZOOK 09-20-2001, 09:15 AM i e-mailed them about the front kit and they said it would be around $1300 waaaaaaay too much cash for me!! i'll make my own.
MIKE S 09-20-2001, 09:49 AM Why run a copy? After all the Shaffer's Offroad kit was out 2 years before theirs.......And front and rear is only 1500......and you get the same kit I run in ARCA.......
86zuki 09-20-2001, 11:35 AM You can go and buy a frint and rear kit through rocky road outfitters for $1250.00. I haven't really talk to many people on how well this suspension kit holds up though. I looks like it works killer though.

fatkid 09-21-2001, 12:53 AM Mike S, how well did you do in ARCA? And are you running this year?
fatkid 09-21-2001, 12:56 AM I haven't seen any Johny Joints on any of these set ups, wounder why? I've heard there the only way to go, not to mention you can rebuild them for cheap. I thought Spidertrax would have used something like it if not the real thing. Does Shaffer use them?
scwafish 09-21-2001, 06:13 AM There was a couple of Shafer equipped rigs at SOR, including Samit, and the set up was sweet, simple and tidy. If you want to see it there are a few pics on Glenns site. Like I said before, I really liked that it used cheap and easy to change coils so its no big deal to change spring rates or ride height.
I don't know exactly how well Mike S has done, other than seeing he had several top ten and top five finishes, which is pretty damn good.
fatkid 09-21-2001, 08:46 AM I think if your in the top 20 your kicking a$$, Just woundering I went and saw the ARCA course at the Hammers and it's nothing I even seen before. Not to mention the level of compitition that some of the ARCA rigs and drivers have reached.

I've got a few pics of the 2 Shaeffer equipted rigs at the SoR event. They are on my website linked below. Just goto the Rubicon run link near the bottom. One of the rigs was Samit's white one and the other is the blue one that layed it over.

Mike, are you accusing Spidertrax of copying your coil-over suspension?
