: Linked up 99 rear.
fatexassk5 02-21-2006, 03:59 PM Was in the shop earlier, tinkering with the coilover setup, got to thinkin about the rear. Anyone 4 linked a rear? ive heard of some folks using f150 coils from like 92-93? asking cause i can obtain some 5 inch bds front coils, and thought about using them on the rear for a quad link.
American 02-21-2006, 05:31 PM whatever you do... do a write-up!
RufusTheRam 02-22-2006, 11:24 AM i'm using stock front tj coils.
fatexassk5 02-22-2006, 11:44 AM what kind of top mount are you doin ?
Pavemen 02-22-2006, 01:14 PM must be nice to be bale to move the gas tank out of the way. can't do that here in CA.
American 02-22-2006, 03:07 PM I bet you could still go around it if you kept the stock wheelbase and went with a three link. Granted, it would be a weird ass three link... Maybe a 3-link w/ a panhard? Don't necessarily HAVE to go with dual tri'd 4-link when you link up the suspension.
Pavemen 02-22-2006, 05:07 PM when the tank takes up 1/2 of the space between the frame rails, it will be very difficult to get the proper symmetrical performance out of a link suspension without moving the tank
fatexassk5 02-22-2006, 05:22 PM hence why having a 15 gallon alum fuel cell is the key to relocation of the petro SON!
This AInt Kali...thank god....... ill see what i can figuare out tommorow after work, i need to finish one project before i start another anyways. It aint no rush to do this, all this talk of custom fab shit got me thinkin of it, and i had never seen anyone do it, i dont think. But since the dodge will become obsolete in a few months i would like to make it semi trail worthy while seeing some street driving. So it wont be gettin to radical, just a chop here, and a chop there....
Nickm 02-22-2006, 07:01 PM as mentioned above, if you can move the fuel tank or cell, you shouldnt have a problem. Might look at the air ride suspension companies and get a few idea from those guys. I believe one of those companies use the front leaf hangers for the lowers.
Hey shoot me a PM if ya ever find that O-valve.
Later gator

Two straight lowers, a third link directly above the d/s (need to do a cross member just behind the t case). Panhard bar. That's what we did on the Corbin's Amigo to keep the stock fuel tank, and looking at the Dodge it should work. Generally its a better setup then the typical triangulated 3 link as you get to control each variable individually.
However I'm tired of dragging my fuel tank on the ground, thinking it needs to find a new home. Or maybe a later ZJ tank might find a home.
fatexassk5 02-23-2006, 09:08 AM info please.....

What o-valve?
sprtn4x4cw 03-02-2006, 08:19 AM I'm thinking of doing my rear on my 2001. I'm changing up the frong first and depending ont he flex I may go ahead and do the rear too. In the front I'm using 7" Skyjacker Coils, original 5-link setup with links extended to 48" (mount is under front door). I'm curious to see how it performs, I'll post up some pictures though.
godlikedodge 03-02-2006, 08:56 AM yeh im looking at putting coils all the way around my 94 dodge. already have the fuel cell located in teh box so i have tons of room. i was goin to run a trianglated four link.

I bet it wouldn't be that hard to do the rear. I have helped on a front, but I don't think I want to fawk with the front geometry; so I'll still throw some leafs up front until I can get some coilovers one day *dreaming*. I could probably run the lowers to the front leaf hangers if I move them forward. Maybe some Rubicon Express joints? You have me really thinking.
What does everybody think would be a good coil for the rear? I want to run about 7" susp :smokin:
Robert97dodge 03-03-2006, 08:36 AM I have decided to hold off on doing a exo and new bed on mine. I am gonna get the one tons in, get my new wheels, and everything working. Then I am gonna start ordering DOM when I get extra money. I may also try to get a bender and welder. Then once I get enough tubing I am gonna go ahead and build my front long arms so that I can put my 3" spacer in. Then that will be done with the lift. THen I plan on removing the bed. Do a 4 or 5 link rear suspension and either run air bags, coilovers, or coil springs in the rear. I will also be chopping about 2 feet off of the frame. With the way it is designed now I could only maybe cut off 6" tops. To cut off any more I would have to get rid of the leaf spring suspension. And for now I am just gonna leave that. Then later on I will link it so that I can cut more of the frame off.
When I get done with it, it will look similar to this but with one tons and I want to leave the stock fuel tank where it is so that I can have a place to put my tool box and some other gear. This guy cut a lot off of the frame. He cut it under the cab. I am not gonna cut it there.

was bored so I drew this up just now. It show about where it would be cut off. Where the coil spring will be and the new arms.

RufusTheRam 03-05-2006, 12:44 PM any more pics/info on that truck? i'd be interested to see how he fit and hung the front rockwell. mine is TIGHT for clearance, but from this pics it looks like that one is around the stock location. mine is ~10 inches forward.
American 03-05-2006, 01:57 PM it's forward. They are tractor supply control arms by the looks of the other pics I've seen...
