Well, finally got it all together. Works great, and is tucked up very tight. The bonus is that unless you look under the hood, it looks stock. No funky crap in the cab.

Specs:

1 finger steering at idle
Saginaw pump from Jeep cherokee
Char Lynn Orbitol
Custom column
PSC 2"X8" ram with 3/4" heims
Aeroquip hoses
Water jet brackets
Lots of AN6 fittings

Oh, and the stock cast bracket for the steering stabilizer broke just trying to get the stabilizer off. Beware of trying to use that part.

Cast brackets are holding up well on mine, but we don't have all those nasty rocks like you guys do,I'm fully prepared to re-engineer once they fail(I can just drive the tow rig home and get the stock steering box and put it back on if they do)
Got any more detailed pics of the bracket at the tie-rod end?I believe that one will fail first on mine as I was able to add a stong double-shear bracket to the mount at the diff side of the ram.

How many turns lock-to-lock is yours?

Just checked, mine is 2 turns lock to lock. It feels good going down the road at higher speeds, but is of course twitchy being full hydro. It will still be driven on the street, and even my girlfreind will be driving it to get groceries.

I do not have any real detailed pics of the knuckle side, it is simple in design, but took a bit of thought to make it work. Cant beleive I went this long without doing this swap.

KC-- Do you think the OEM hydro steering pump on a 617 would put out enough pressure to run hydralic assit on a 404? What about full Hydro?

Yes, it would be fine for hydro assit, but might be a little small for full hydro. I am running a bone stock saginaw right now, but will likely boost the pressure this weekend.

Well, just got back from cruses last night. Lots of fun, really only had problems with tires. They kept burpping all the air out. It was a real pain. The hydro worked perfect, I think I need a few more PSI, but overall, it was a dream. Even at 50-60mph, it felt reall good, and did not feel like it was to twithy

Nice clean install!

Looks factory!

Is running a rig with full hydro legal in your state? I know it isn't up here in Washington.

Please be careful on the highways.

This truck will not see highway miles. it will be driven on occasion on surface streets. Full hydro technocally is illegal in every state. I would never go full hydro on a vehicle I relly on every day. But lots of people do. In terms of control, its great, even at high speed.

. Full hydro technocally is illegal in every state.

prove it.

there are a few bountys on this board that have stood unclaimed for close to 5 years now.

noone has been able to come up with a law in any state thus far where it says full hydro is illegal.

the full hydro is illegal theory is a myth.

I tend to agree with you. Tractors are legal to drive down the road, and alot of them are full hydro. I personally have never seen any set in stone law about non tractors running hydro. I just went along with the myth because I had nothing to back it up with. Here in NM, though there really are no issues, because we do not have inspections etc. Anyhow, hydro is really now more dangerous than a regular steering setup. If your drag link breaks a joint, you loose control. If your hydro hose springs a leak, you just have to pull over and fix it. You still have power steering. Plus, my hydro as well as almost every hydro setup I have seen still operates when the engine dies.
