Here's a couple of pics of the SOS adapter bolted up between the Sidekick bell and the Toyota G52 tranny. This piece is beefy a$$ one piece billet, sweetly made, and fits perfect. I'll post more pics as I put it in the chassis this week.

So are you bolting it up to a Sidekick engine since you're using a Sidekick tranny face?

Do it have to use the Kick tranny for its face piece? Or will the Samurai do just as well with the adaptor piece?

Well.... seems like most everything in life has two ends.... the 'face' end, and the 'ass' end. Seemed to me like the one in the picture oughtta be the 'face' :^)

The adapter was made by Kerry Wittig at Suzuki Only Supply, or SOS. His phone # is 607.272.8799. The adapter fits all toy 4 cylinder trannys (G52 and W56?), but there is also one that fits the toy turbo tranny. Since it mates to a kick bellhousing you need to be running a 1600, but you should be anyway!

Kerry has been really cool and the quality of the parts are first rate. I know he wanted to sell the kit for around $399, but call him for a final price.

I've been slammed at work but really want to get this in by the weekend. I'll post more pics soon.

Basically, any transmission (there were qute a few, but only a couple were common) used with the 22R (4cyl carbed) or 22RE (EFI 4cyl) should work. You might be able to use one from a 20R engine, but I don't know hwy you'd want to, since they're non-overdrive and considerably weaker.

So you've really got:
The G52 (84+ 22R, 3.93-1st, 0.83-5th)
The G57 (doesn't matter - 2wd, won't bolt to toy t-cases)
The W56 (All(?) 22RE, 3.95-1st, 0.95 5th)

Also, the V6 and tubo EFI 4cyl (22RTE) used the R151F tranny:
R151F (22RTE,V6 4.0?-1st, 0.83 5th)

All 4-cyl (22R,22RE,22RTE had a 2.28:1 geardriven T-case)

These transmissions were beefier than the non-turbo trannies, but had a different bolt pattern than the above transmissions. A plus, however, is the lower first gear of this tranny... and the Transfer case. The Tubo transfer case is a rare find and has a 23-spline input shaft (just like a Dana 300) Regular cases are 21-spine input. Marlin (crawler) calls this an unbreakable transfer case simply because he's never seen one fail, although anything is breakable if you get it awn often enough.

I should point out that all of the Toy cases are considerably stronger than the Sammys (duh) and will hold up well under hard use, especially in the light sammy with a less powerful 1.6L engine than the 22R is.

I even knew a guy up in Missouri running a 350/TH350 combo in front of his toy case for mud dragging. Never broke the toy case with 38x11 boggers and all kinds of HP, although I would not feel comfortable doing this on a hardcore wheeler, it's indicative of the strength of the case.

Also, just FYI, The V6 toy's use a chain-driven case design which is not as strong as the 4 cylinder design, and cannot be stacked using the usual adapter.</font>

Thank you for the info... I have a funny story for you too... locally here there is a shop called No Limit Off Road (samurai shop) it's a great shop but when I told the owner that there was a new divorced Toyota case out for sammy's he laughed at the matter saying what a silly idea it was!!! I almost laughed at him. He said why would you wanna do that? I said it's way stronger and double cases and of course if you were running toy diffs it's got the centred driveshaft output. His reaction was that the toy case was not stronger!! I couldn't believe it!! He was on <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0"> or something. He said they were of egual strength. I was blown away. He then said that his "shift over" kit could solve the centreing problem in the rear on toy diffs! I don't know how that stupid thing works but I have lost respect for his opinion. <IMG SRC="smilies/smokin.gif" border="0">

I bolted the tranny and kick bell to the motor tonight, went in beautiful. The combo is a bit heavy to do yourself, but I got it in there with a little floor jack McGyvering. I'll post some pics after I get the Marlin and t/c in tomorrow.
