would you believe it?!?!

i got in the top ten of the 2002 TTC - just got a call from Jon Thompson telling me i got in and i'm thrilled!!

the Frog will come by air(not enough time to make all the preparation and ship the bastard).

now i need SPONSORS - could use any assistance from you PBB
members to use any contacts you have with companies and 4x4 shops & dealers which may be interested in sponsoring(fully or partially) an Israeli offroad team to attend the 2002 TTC.

i'm still in shock!!

love & peace

rough estimate for flying to California, inland transportation, shipping back, flight tickets for the crew, some preparations, etc, will be about 20 k, not less.

one heavy load, is'nt it?:(

Way to plan ahead...

Shoulda packed it up in the container and sent it a while back.,,, sponsorship is gonna be tough.

Speaking as a small business owner, I'd rather put 20K into marquis sponsorship of several ARCA competitors and get all-season exposure across a bunch of websites, print mag exposure a few times, and inclusion in several retail videos (and a BUNCH of home-brew videos) than put the same money into FourWheeler's TTC.

FourWheeler is so restrictive of coverage that IMHO, sponsorship pays poorly. They try very hard to keep all the coverage constrained to THEIR magazine, THEIR website, and THEIR video... and they limit stickers to THEIR advertisors. :( This makes sense for THEM but screws competitors/vendors...

Hell, ask Scott at Rockstomper about how many decals they allowed him to run for his own shop!

FourWheeler has a cool enough event, but the way they restrict it is gonna make sponsorship a tough sell... :(

Umm... flat NONE! Fortunately (or unfortunately) everything on my truck also happens to be Rockstomper parts, so there's an additional "in" for my own name, but they even managed to downplay that in the mag. The one thing I did get away with (that I was kinda surprised at, actually, given the rest of the restrictions) was that nearly every shot they've got, there's something... be it the RKSTMPR license plate, my Rockstomper hat, Carl's Rockstomper hat, or the like. When you've got a poster child.... :)

Steve Watson (ORD) arrived late-ish (Tuesday morning) with ORD decals still on his truck... the judges made him scrape 'em all before they'd even let him park in the lineup. I asked ahead just how far I had to go, if I had to scrape everything, or just what's on the outside of the truck, etc., and they told me to even scrape Rancho off the shocks if it was on there.

With that in mind, good luck, I was hoping to see ya in... sponsorship might be tough to come by on this one. I know I couldn't scrounge any.

I'm not sure about the stickers, but have they ever made anyone use a diffrent part? i.e say only bfg's are allowed, or else you don't compete?

I know if they do that, unless they pay for the part, you can put them in a lot of pain via the court system.

nascar set the standard on this, iirc

i do'nt know how long it will take to get the frog out of the customs, so i'll have to come a few days earlier.

i would'nt want to get to Hollister but not make it on time, now would i? :D:D

Good point. With that in mind, what other events are going on in the same general time-frame of TTC that The Frog could hit? I mean, they're coming a LONG way, why not hit 2-3 competitions while they're here. It'd make it more worth the trip not only for them, but might make sponsors more eager to help.

Oh, and any business that wants to put $20k (or WAY less) into effective advertisement at 4wd events should contact me IMMEDIATELY - seriously.

Congratulations! I love the TTC magazine coverage, but their video coverage SUCKS! Saw one of the tapes the other day and it is a mishmash of little snippets here and there. I thought that it would show each and every vehicle's run at all of the obstacles....lucky to see half of the trucks running half of the obstacles. Glad I bought the magazines and not the lame videos.

Too bad really, as they have serious potential to be exciting vids.

20k!

Man shop around!

1. It does not take 2 months for a boat to get to the US. More like half that.

2. A 40ft container is about 1500 from the UK to baltimore MD. so it can't be that much more from isreal to whatever US port you want.

3. How the fawk are you going to fly it over?

4. good luck :) and nice rig
