What automatic transmission(s) were available in the diesel trucks? I believe only the A-518 but I don't know a thing about the diesels.
Also, what is the output shaft dia and spline count for the a-518. I know my 727 has a 23 spline output, but I'm not sure about the diameter.
I am about to do some drivetrain swapping and am trying to figure this out.
Thanks,
Ryan

My 93 has the A518 which has the 23 spline output the earlier models had non OD auto not sure if it was still called an A727 then or not but the A518 is just an A727 with OD.. The output is the same as the earlier A727 output shaft and will accept the same T-cases.. I put a NP208 from an 81 Dodge on the back of my A518 when the 205 took a crap..

Thanks for the reply. That's what I was looking for.
I guess my question now would be is there any easy way to upgrade to a stronger output shaft on the trans? I was wanting to go up in diameter as well as spline count. Are there any other Mopar applications that have a shaft or entire automatic trans (later model autos) that would interchange. I'm sure with enough $$$ you could have anything made but I'm trying to keep this reasonable.
I'm going to a dual T-case set up and am trying to find a stronger trans shaft. Something similar to the 32 spline TH-400 but in a Mopar trans.
Thanks,
Ryan

You could get an NVG4500 which has a 32 spline shaft but I dont see any weakness in the stock shaft in the A518..
