My 3vze has 240K on it so I think it is time to upgrade. Im looking to sell the truck soon and I thought having an engine that can actually turn the 35's would be a good selling feature. I was going to put a big block in but I am going to need the money here soon so im going to have to sell my truck. Im looking at an 89 4.3L out of an 89 s10 blazer. It comes with auto tranny, transfer case, computer and wiring for $850. Is this a good price. How hard is it to re-wire stock harness? I think I am going to run the chevy engine tranny and t-case and just have new ends put on my driveshafts. What do you guys think?
Jeff
Since you are gonna sell it soon, I think the engine swap idea is really pretty dumb.

If you are just rtying to sell it I wouldnt do the swap. I ended up spending a lot more than anticipated but liked the end results. If you are going to keep then do it.

The reason I was going to do the swap was because I don't think I'll be able to sell it very easily the way it is. THe V6 has so little power I can't even maitain high way speeds. If I go up a small hill It slows down to about 50 and on flat ground I cant even use 5th gear. In 4th gear I have to keep it pegged on the highway just to hold 65 or 70. Sometimes I can't even do that.

Then I think you are better off spending a few bucks fixing whatever is wrong with your engine. Unless it has no compression, you should be able to get more power than that just with a tune up, and some timing adjustments. Something has got to be wrong.

FWIW, I bought a 4.3 a while ago (motor w/ ECU and some of harness) for $300. Held onto it for around 6 months, decided I didn't want to run it and sold it for $330 on Ebay. HTH
