TH400 came with QT or Dana 20 (factory one was weak in the adapter part, but may be okay for a CJ) 999 would have a D300. (that's the factory stuff) You could also do a 727 from a full size Jeep (Grand Wagoneer, etc) with a Mopar NP208 (RH drop. It's a direct swap for Jeep NP208, NP219, NP228 and NP229 as well as AMC Eagle tcases NP119, NP128 and NP129.) I'm converting from a TH400 (very tired) with QT (that has part time and O/D kit installed but needs a chain) to Jeep 727 and Dodge NP208 with fixed yoke. It's on my '73 J4000 tow rig so I need the strength.
The driveshaft lengths will be the only issue I need to deal with on mine (already have the newer gas tank with driveshaft relief built in)
