on the passenger side of a Dana 30, right out at the knuckle, is there supposed to be a seal?

pulled my passenger side shaft to replace the u-joints, and there doesn't appear to be any seal there at all, at least not right at the end. It's kinda packed with dirt/silt up in there.

Is there supposed to be a seal at the end?

no, the only thing that is supposed to be there is a little white plastic ring on the axle shaft that is supposed to keep dirt and shat out.

Yes and NO... if your still stock the seal is at the VQD...

Yes.....If you put in one piece shafts with the 760 u-joint like the newer TJ/XJ you can put a seal there... CAR Quest part#40576S

the seal on your axle is in the vacuum disconnect box towards the passenger side. they are a a real bitch to replace as well. you will need some washers that fit inside the axle tube as well as a long piece of threaded rod and some nuts. to clamp the seal together and pull it into place from the outside of the shaft. good luck
