Is the 14 bolt offset to center the pinion in the truck, like the old eaton rears?

If so, what are the shaft lenghts of the drivers side & passenger side?

Thanks in advance!

Thanks!

I am building an Eaton for my next rig. I am supposed to be able to swap side gears & run 14 bolt shafts.

yes one side is longer than the other (pass. side is the long side i "think"), but i don't remember the exact lengths right now. I don't think you can swap just the side gears to run the 14 bolt shafts, has to be both side AND spider gears. I would say search, but its down right now, eatons have been covered in Gen. 4x4 quite a few times.

hope this helps some

Normally I use the search function.

The eatons shafts I have are 5" different in lenght. I am in the process of narrowing the long side to match the short side so I can run a narrowed axle with stock shafts. If I break the 16 spliners my plan would be to upgrade to 14b shafts. Just double checking before I hack a perfectly good axle:flipoff2:

Thanks for all the info.
