: Made myself a custom D60 HD diff cover

Thought some of you might be amused by this.

Made a ring out of 3/8" plate, and made the ring gear piece out of 3/8" as well, then bent the other two pieces out of 3/16" (all the bending was done with a torch and a vise. Plug is a 1/2" npt, and the socket is welded into the plate.

All that is left now is to sand blast and paint it.

Amused? Yes. That's the ugliest dayum thing I have ever seen! :flipoff2: I'm sure it will work awesome, looks REALLY beef. Good work man, tell us how it works out and post a pic when you get it painted and on there...

did the 3/8" flange stay straight thru all that welding? is it gonna seal up? or will the bolts pull it flat?

thats really pretty cool! Im just curious, anytime I weld something that thick without sometype of fixture it warps to hell

Hey! That's not ugly. It's a work of art :flipoff2:

I hope it will work well, and it will probably look better cleaned up and painted.

I decided not to because I like to have a look inside when I change the oil... Could add one later if I wanted though.

Warped a little, so I grinded it flat again.

I know, I have one - but it is only wimpy 1/8" thick, and they don't make them for shaved diffs AFAIK :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
