budget76 02-26-2006, 12:56 PM Shadowman- how about some more pics of the doors when you pick it up/get a chance? i was looking at it on ebay, and i couldn't figure out why it was covering up the front portion of the insert. i can't remember seeing doors like that before. anyway, looks like a cool acquisition:cool2:
as for scout work-absolutely nothing. my dad did go to pick up a t-19 from NY, and i'll probably be de-greasing it later. time to find out if these two i have now are wide or close. hoping they're both wide:cool2:
Sand73 02-26-2006, 02:53 PM cut the sliders off my truck (for sale now) got two used flowmaster 40's all hooked up with turn downs (sounds great! recomend it to any one)

Only two of us managed to make the top of a deep snow (that refused to pack up well) hill.. and it involved 200' of straps n' winch cable. :D

http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/2006FrontierHighOre/DCP_0016.sized.jpg
I managed to tag a tree that was down across the trail on the way out.. fortunately, it completely missed my new bumper and went for the sheetmetal instead..

http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/2006FrontierHighOre/DCP_0025.sized.jpg
Got in there right where the three panels meet.. the inner fender/core support is toast, the inner fender just about hit the alternator, tire rubs on the back of the old core support, and it buckled the grille on the driver's side, too.

Airing up the Scouts..
http://www.m4x4a.org/ImageGallery/2006FrontierHighOre/DCP_0028.sized.jpg
..and after loading up and heading home with my "trailer queen" and Todd following behind

Scout's been unloaded, but there's still a hunk of tree sticking out - it wouldn't come out with a simple pull or jerk, so it'll wait until the Scout gets back into the shop.
Today I'm back to getting the racer ready for the Baja.
Gen. Nonsense 02-26-2006, 04:20 PM I did yard work all weekend.
Sat: Cleaned the front yard, cut down a date palm (them sombitches is dangerous!) The branches have huge spikes on em and can pierce the toughest leather gloves. Cleaned the back yard a little bit and tried to make it a little more "puppy friendly".
http://members.cox.net/79scoutguy/Angel.jpg
Sun: Hauled everything to the dump and shoveled rock out of the back yard to keep it from getting in the pool and clear a spot for some paving stones to park my future trailer on. :smokin:
SSGTWC 02-26-2006, 04:52 PM Went down to Manhattan, KS and met up with some buddies.
Drank too much
My liver hates me!
That's about it for my weekend
Mechanos 02-26-2006, 05:31 PM Did a bunch of housework cleaning type stuff off and on (I really should look into one of the wimmin types to do that for me) and went to Pick-n-Pull for a look around. Big surprise.... no late 70's or early 80's Chevy duallies.
Sun: I got all prepared to cut down a frickin' evergreen in front of the house that has worn through my last nerve. Double checked to make sure the leaf & brush drop off site was open and found out it's closed for the winter until March 15. Guess I'll put off cutting that fawker down until then.
Ediit: Forgot to mention that I also replaced the lower panel of one of my new garage door that I fawked all up about 4 months ago when I backed my trailer into a stack of tires and pushed them into the door.
Urban Wheeler 02-26-2006, 05:36 PM It has been a busy week for me. Here is the short version of what I did.
I made a bumper.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y257/Fryloc/scoutbumper002.jpg
I made a bracket for the brakelight switch.
I hooked up the turn signal switch and blinker.
I had to rewire the rear lights because the stock wiring was no longer flexible.
I ran the motor until it got hot and overflowed.
I replaced the thermostat.
I installed a mechanical temp gauge.
I ran it again to check the gauge.
I changed the oil and filter in my bike.
I aired the tires.
I went for a ride.
I froze my ass off.
I went to the lake and raked leaves.
That's about it.
scout254 02-26-2006, 06:26 PM Like I said earlier, brought another vehicle home Sat.:shaking: Better pic in daylight than at night:rolleyes:
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c101/scout254/P2260002.jpg
Sunday, helped buddy cut down trees and burn brush/limbs. Damn rain!

UPDATE::::::laughing:
I am so glad that I started this at 12:30pm today:shaking:
The quote I got from a couple of tranny shops was 4 hours total to R&R a TH400...well it took me 4 hours just to get to where I stopped. That was without lunch...and with 2 WIRED energy drinks...and only one call from a potential date for tonight.
Good thing my landlord did not stop by....ha ha ha...
http://home.comcast.net/~pressfit/tranny2.jpg
Sure it is driveable...
http://home.comcast.net/~pressfit/tranny1.jpg
ummm...got tranny...
http://home.comcast.net/~pressfit/tranny3.jpg
I would have went the rest of the way but it appears that I have a date tonight with some "strange".
Plus Rustoleumwhite's tranny jack won't go high enough...so I need to get some lumber from work tomorrow...
Tahcustomscout 02-26-2006, 07:39 PM Friday I drove about 140 miles round trip to pick up my new tires. BFG AT 33-12.50R15's. Got all four for $555.00 ($126.00 a peice before taxes). I thought it was a good deal. Then went with my wife to buy LR furniture. Sat I installed my front axle and picked up the furniture I bought on friday. Sunday I changed the oil in my rearend, and my transfer case. Then adjusted the bands on my transmission. Then my got a little help from my son installing the new tires... My body lift kit should be in this week and I'll put it on by the weekend.

Mine doesn't go high enough, either.. but y'know what? If you take the tires off, the jack is more than high enough. :D
So.. LOWER the Scout. Jackstands will work, or put it on some bare rims. :D

Ha ha ha...NOOOO!!!
Maybe with you shop and home having fuckers (like I used to be)...BUT with us WT apartment dwellers...it needs to at least appear alive...
TheCopperCowboy 02-26-2006, 08:28 PM No trees, brush, or leaves for me. Got the '77 Scout II home and snuggled safely in the garage. I'm grabbing the '79 Scout II tomorrow. Need an equipment trailer because of the width. Work slowed some, so I'll be wrenching on them and may play with the '74 PU to get it running. A few guys want to take it off my hands, but I'll probably wind up pulling the engine and axles off it if nobody buys it. Cool to have my junk back at the home 20 again. :smokin:
ih4ever 02-26-2006, 08:37 PM drank way too much and did absolutley nothing scout related at all!!!!!!!!!

HOS, use a comealong or a buddys winch on a rig with a snatchblock off the rollbar. Wrap a strap around the pig at the end of the pan area and drop it. Works great for me in Moab.

Real Blackdog 02-26-2006, 09:16 PM I fired the contractor that was installing new windows in my house. I took over the the install and should have the job completed in another week. I have not wheeled since I sold the "Deliverance" Scout. All work and no play.
Snoopy 02-26-2006, 09:30 PM Wanna take bets who wheels
1st. Her SSII or Snoopy's rig. :D
 ~ That is just SO wrong. I bet you put it in 4WD and wheel it onto the trailer and will call it a easy win.
Are we talking pre-build or post-build wheeling?:grinpimp: :D :grinpimp: :D
Snoopy 02-26-2006, 09:33 PM Nothing here, all my babysitters dog'd on me. Can't wait to have the shop back at the house again.
Tahcustomscout 02-26-2006, 09:51 PM what happend to the boy? playing to hard with that wrench?
Aahhhhh. He tried to do a Triple Lindey out of our van and ended up pulling a Greg Louganis.... Face first onto the drive way.:shaking:
Brandon 02-26-2006, 10:29 PM there was a weekend? Nuttin done here :(

Post build buddy. I was thinking 33s, Wife says 35s. Damn women. :shaking:
Why does She want to get all difficult again? I say leave the engine nearly stock, She wants more power. So it looks like a cam, headers and my custom intercooled supercharger setup I had planned for the Vette will be on this SSII. I am resisting a Dana 60 build for the rear. Her idea of a street/offroad rig. I am getting sick of 4bys. I will :barf: when this one is done.
tsm1mt looks like the tree was going for a sucker punch. You did say you made it to push dead fall off the trail, but I see green trees fight back. bummer...

binderbart 02-27-2006, 01:08 PM Got a lot done this weekend:
Friday, noon, went and picked up a new tool,
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper004.jpg
Friday night I started putting the toyota back together. I finished cleaning the throttle body with a baby bottle brush and a toliet brush. Blew it out good with the air hose and made a gasket and reassembled it. Installed the throttle position sensor with the easier to adjust allen head screws. Ran all the test on it with a multi-meter and re-installed it on the intake. Installed the used radiator to replace the leaking one and fired it up. Played with the timing a little and drove it home.
Saturday, I started out by installing the bumper I made on the trail scout
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper001.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper002.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper003.jpg
Then I hooked the trickle charger up to the battery , it was low and barely started to pull it into the shop. I let that charge while I went back to work on the toyota. I put new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor in the toyota.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper005.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/bumper006.jpg
Then I spent a couple of hours wet sanding aluminum rims for it and masking them off for paint
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/lights001.jpg
called it a night at this point.
Sunday, back at the shop, shot a coat of red on the toyota rims. Then I mounted four BFG AT's on the terra, even sos'd the chrome rims.
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/lights005.jpg
then I unmasked the toyota rims and mounted a set of sidewinder 31x10.50x15's
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/lights006.jpg
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c321/binderbart/lights007.jpg
called it a night. got alot accomplished.
Binder 02-27-2006, 05:18 PM Wheeled Sunday.
Diesel Smoke 02-27-2006, 05:22 PM Saturday: Helped IHC-6 clean and reorganize his shop, got home late and didn't feel like doing anything
Sunday: Discovered Binderbound and I made a small mistake while porting our box, so the install I had planned got pushed back. I hope Dan makes it by with the other box so I can get it on. Spent the rest of the day doing a few small things on my pickup and Scout. Helped Dad clean up the garage, then watched the end of the Fontana race.
I hope we can get something put together for wheeling next weekend. Looks like we are going to, but we'll see.

And a damn fine job was done by all.
I actually WORKED in my shop on MY OWN STUFF for once on Sunday. Got the Travelall running again (fouled plugs). Think my 241 is not long for this world, so I went to the other shop and took part of a BD264 apart to see just what was wrong with it. Looks like the pistons are good, but the rings are done for. Should be able to ring it, and stick it in the Travelall for the 2007 run of OBDR.
Started cutting off the bootyfab truss some idiot put on the D60 I got from a buddy. Nice thing is, it already has a Detroit in it :D

why? Oil fouled plugs?
scout254 02-28-2006, 12:03 AM Woke up at 8am and thought I had to go to work:shaking: But I checked my schedule, and forgot that I had a 3 day weekend. Those never happen:rolleyes: So instead, I tore the 60 down to replace the kingpins and get ready for the Eaton E-locker install. Had to quit early because of the damn ?$@# rain, it's hard to work outside when the weather is nasty.
http://i26.photobucket.com/albums/c101/scout254/P2280003.jpg
IHC-6 02-28-2006, 11:27 AM why? Oil fouled plugs?
Doesn't look like oil fouling. The plugs were the first ones I put into it after I got it running again, and they were new RJ12YC's, and I got 12,000 miles out of them on an unknown motor. I put a set of NGK V-Powers in this time because Ismail recommends them. Truck already runs better than it ever did. Thanks again Jeff. :)
Now I just have to get the fuel system mods I was planning done, and I can drive it again. Time to get the fleet back on the road. :cool2:
ih4ever 02-28-2006, 12:58 PM gettin ready for the elocker that hasent even been ordered yet???? who knows how long you minght be getting ready for it, i know mine probably will be sitting in the garage, for atleast a year... :flipoff2:
BLK Scout 800 03-05-2006, 01:50 AM Call Eaton Brian....they told me one year or so, that's Y I got smart and ordered an ARB.... Quit kidding yourself man do you really want every metal shaving clinging to your locker do to magnetic pull????? :flipoff2:
