so somebody help me out and hook me up with what i need, and i'll go break it and post pics
Recurve 04-03-2002, 07:51 PM Is that the bathroom? Seems like an appropriate place for a Super Turd. :D:flipoff2:
Now all those worthless housings that people yap about giving away are gonna suddenly be worth $200 to someone with one of them.:p
aaronlosey 04-03-2002, 08:00 PM we will see, if it only lasts a year, it will be worth it. i got the gears front and rear, axle shafts, detroit, install kits and such for really cheap, all new in the box with warranties. i break it, i guess i just send it back and get new shiny turd junk. then i can sell it all for more than i bought it for.
and besides, i'm not going to shine the turd, i'm gonna shave it, push it back, and see if i can get it work with 51 inch rear springs.
besides, i'm actually doing some research here. all anyone else can do is bad mouth the thing and throw it away, i'm gonna see if it can be made to work. think about the ground clearance, weight reduction, ect. i can run 37's and have the ground clearance of somebody on 42's.
besides, we already have enough heavy equipment to test over at the www.4xvideo.com site. if you don't believe me, go check it out. then fawk off and go flame some xterra newbie.:flipoff2: :flipoff2:
each of your flaming posts only bumps this thread, so flame away.
oh, and does somebody actually have the damn axle they want to throw away?
Recurve 04-03-2002, 08:09 PM You're preaching to the choir dude. I've had mine since late December and I get to try it out (on rocks) for the first time Saturday.
BTW, what ratio will you be running? 4.88? If so then you can comfirm or put to rest those weakness suspicions too.
aaronlosey 04-03-2002, 08:41 PM naw, 4.56. those 4.88s get really small when you look at them on paper. ( specs )
besides, this just kinda fell into my lap brand new in the box with everything for less than 1/2 price. figure, hey, do the install myself, save all this money, learn something, can't go wrong. i can always go find a 44/60 combo in the junk yard for super cheap. i really don't want to be quite that wide though. my 12.5 wide tires are only in the fenders by about an inch as it is on my yj. 10 inch wheels, backspacing, ect.
figure keeping the center of gravity super low on 37s will be sweet, tons of ground clearance, not too wide, still not very tippy. but then again, i might start throwing axles left and right. but i know some people running tjs with 38's on super 35s without any problem. they run moab, colorado, all over the place. besides, with half the body and interior gone, the thing is super light. we will see. we will see.
WyoJeeper 04-04-2002, 10:44 AM I got a 88 D35 I would be willing to get rid of. Just up the way in WY. Would sell it or trade for a D60 ring and pinion install kit and a rebuild kit for the D60, seals bearings and stuff.
Let me know
Rick
aaronlosey 04-04-2002, 11:11 AM aww.... forget about this thread, thanks for the support though...
Recurve 04-04-2002, 11:19 AM  Yeah dude. Remember what I said above? You'd have been better of adverstising for a boat anchor. Probably could have gotten one free in that case. If I could help you out I would.:flipoff2:
aaronlosey 04-04-2002, 12:20 PM ehh, i'm fine, i found one for 40 bucks, complete with brakes and everything else. between this entire rear axle, superior shafts, detroit, gears, all bearings, ect. i will have spent less that most people spend on a full locker.
can't wait to get it under way, i'm getting the long ass springs made pretty soon, as soon as i get the axle all put together. i'm stoked.
