First off, I would like to thank 5spd (Jim) and Erik B for their great welding jobs on my 4Runner. 5spd stayed up late nights with me to get my POS up and running so I can drive it to school the next day :D

First impressions with the SAS is it drives GREAT! I was expecting some wobbling, shacking problems but I got none. This baby drives straight, doesn't pull and no vibrations!! The problem I got now is my shackles are inverting, so I'll have to cut and move the shackle hangers back an 1.5-inches to prevent that since I don't want to run longer shackles. Right now, I have 2-inch tubes welded on the frame to prevent the shackles from inverting...works good so far :D

5spd will be posting pics shortly!

Wilson, Fordyce is planned on April 20-21st. :D

Booger Weldz, no Hammerz for me. I'm all outta $$$...can't even afford to buy some spacers from Wilson :p

Seabass, that idea might work! Wilson and I plan to fix it this weekend, we'll see what happens then ;)

Mark, hopefully my 4Runner will have a crawler box by Memorial day, otherwise I'll be smokin' clutches through the con :D

The hardest part of the SAS was lifting the axle onto the jack with only my buddy and me and we were trying to do it on gravel. :p Everything else was cake. Easier than IFS lift ;)

The SAS looks sweet. I'd ditch the exo.

Everybody picks on the exo, you're gonna have to finish that David. Now that you'll be able to use it.

Sucks to be you, dude. We used a big floor jack under the tranny crossmember and a pallet jack under the axle for mine. It was cake.

:p :p :p

I guess, but that pallet jack didn't help you with your "wobble" problem did it??? You guys should try moving a full width D44 or D60.

Paul, it sure is!! With Seabass, Pat and you we'll always have a wheel'n crew ready to wheel! I still got a long ways to go, crawler box, front locker, finish exo...engine swap is on my list too...now debating on which mod I should do with my next paycheck :p

4RunnerRyan, thanks for hooking me up with the crossmember, steering and springs for a deal! They are working out good, Wilson and I are gonna fix my shackle problem this weekend and hopefully I can snap some mad flex pics :D How's your rig coming along?

e, you don't like exos? When I finish mine and tumble my 4Runner to the bottom of a hill, you'll appreciate it :flipoff2:

inchworm!!!!!!!!!!!! you dont need the front locker, or motor swap, youll easily do the rubicon without those, but youre next paycheck is going to inchworm for the adapter!!:rasta:

waht are you doing for your rear setup?? ive got a set of allpro 4" rears and a set of 63" chevy bongerz???

DavidT.
04-04-2002, 03:39 PM
Paul...I'm looking at doing the Chevy swap in the rear. I like the idea of the springs coming out of a full-size truck and being able to carry a lot of load w/o sagging too much. Plus they flex nice! I think my next paycheck is gonna go towards 4.7:1 t-case gears. I don't want to do duals right now, out of my budget with all the mods and driveline stuff. I sent ya a PM!

SeaBass44
04-04-2002, 04:21 PM
Yup lets tear it up! Vova should be done by summer eh? And i don't have a front locker either;) dav so get the gears U will be fine, although I would get a dual build a $20 front square shaft and all u need is a 2nd case and shorten the rear shaft. same price I guess.

Runner is lookin good, David! :D

Sorry that shackle hanger location didn't work out. :(

Get the 4-leaf Chevy's if you want them to carry any weight. The 3-leaf set wont!

I barely got all my shiat done before the Jambo (no sleep the night before we left!), but I made it and had a blast. :bounce:
Sorry you couldn't make it!

DavidT.
04-17-2002, 11:03 AM
Thanks Erik. On the shackle hangers, I just made 1-inch longer shackles, fixed the problem and don't notice the lift :D

Now I'm having a retarded time putting together a square driveshaft... :rasta:

We're hitting Fordyce this upcoming Sunday...you coming? :D

ErikB
04-17-2002, 03:55 PM
Its unlikely that I'll make it, but I'll definitely try. :D

They're getting a decent amount of snow up there right now! After this desert Jambo stuff, I'm ready for rocks, thought I was done w/ snow runs!
