a 65 scout does not have 44's first off and seond that would be a big ol downgrade to your toyota even if they were early 44's.

The axles from my scout went.. straight to the dump

what kind? Maybe you should do some research before posting, and a few people have pointed you to the BB - that might work out a bit better if you don't even know what axle you have or if they have lockers. Pull the covers and look inside.

Dude, You have been lucky to this point but you really need to do searching and or go to the other buliten board to learn a little before asking these guys for there advise and tech knowledge. This is a forum for the more advanced. I am not trying to be a dick just trying to save you some flaming. There is a ton of info out there YOU just have to look for it and not be lazy.

Oh yeah.. go get Brandon his PICS. He has work to do!

Your 65' scout did not come with 44's - I stand by that

http://www.binderbulletin.org/forums/faq.php?faq=ihc_faq#faq_ihc_faq_1.0

your gonna piss off the one friend you had, dumb fawker

I honestly paid no attention to what was actually under the scout, assuming maybe 27/30 but they are toothpicks not worth of anything larger than stock tires.

Yeah there you go. That's a great way to make your point. First off I don't see Brandon posting about something as mondane as what is my truck worth and what axles do I have.. He has a ADVANCED questions that he was hoping you could take a picture of as you have a truck with the conversion already done. I don't belive he asked for you advise or "hey man how do I do this". If you would have taken the time to do a little research you would have noticed that Brandon's member number is 6. He also has a Toy pick up with a 5.0 ford in it. Meaning he probably doesn't need your advise. As far the the 44, he is mostly right. The Scout did not come with a 44 front until 74 making it a Scout II the rear is most likely a 44 but won't be a flanged 44 and will be 19 spline. You will not have a locker in the front as it is (if it is stock) a Dana 27. You may have a power lock in the rear. So take a deep breath and relax. :shaking:

Don't expect a warm welcome over at the BB with crap like that either.

The BB FAQ should have everything you need to know in it, and I wouldn't put axles from a 65 Scout under a Toyota. Get some Longfield parts, and go back to whatever rock you crawled out from under.

Brandon

There is no reason to swap out that rear axle on your toy - it is nearly bulletproof. As for the front the LEAST you'd want to put under is from a SII, not that S80, but being new like it sounds like you are I would stick with toy stuff - forget the scout and build the toy. Once you get done playing get another scout ;)

Check out marlincrawler.com for the toyota stuff.

From the sound of you should NOT modify your toy in ANY way. Just drive it, I hate it when people outbuild their driving skills...

A 44 is NOT a 44, they come in many flavors and strengths/lengths. Your Toy IFS rear end is wider than a non-IFS and there are a lot of people competing with that axle and people running 44" tires on it. If you want width, yea you can go to a dana but the next step for a rear would be a 60 - not a 44. The 60 axle is actually the same size as the toy just a slightly different pitch on the spline if I remember right. The biggest thing is the amount of ground clearance the toy axle will give you, plus the aftermarket alloy axles etc along with the dropout 3rd member etc. Maybe you should post in the toy section ;)

I do think you should just drive your toy though, you might be surprised what it can do in stock form. Learn how to drive with it, break stuff and learn how to fix it then do the conversion YOURSELF so if it breaks - you know what to do. It's your rig, and if you are going to be driving YOU need to know how to fix it.. all of it.

If it's stock, your '65 has a closed knuckle Dana 27 front, not a Dana 44.

Edit: Maybe I'm confused by what you're asking.

You get offended by people saying you're lazy when.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................... YOU CAN'T EVEN BE BOTHERED TO LOOK UNDER THE SCOUT TO SEE WHICH SIDE THE FRONT DRIVESHAFT IS ON???

While you're under there you could LOOK at the difs (what a concept). The front should be closed knuckle (crap) and have "27" cast into it. The rear will have either "27T" or "44T" cast into it. You may have powerlocks in the axles. Most only came with a PL in the rear but a front D27 PL was an option. It makes a nice paperweight...

You sir are a complete fawking jackass. You are the person that came into this forum asking questions that either a simple search or easier yet just a peek under YOUR OWN truck would have given you the answer too. Then you insult the one guy that was trying to steer you in the right direction. You say that pirate is a bunch of assholes, but you can see by my member number that I have not been on the site very long, I do know several guys on this site and that helps but if you will also notice with a simple search. I have never started a thread or spouted of stupid questions that I could answer myself. I have aboslutely no probelms on this board. Did you ever think that maybe it is other dumbasses like you that are giving this forum a bad rap???? However after trying to read the gobbeldeegook you right I am sure that would require a slightly higher thought process than you are capable of. Now go give a farm animal oral pleasure :flipoff2:

Gawd damn dude...

Here, I'll spoon feed it to you.

If it's all stock:

Your front driveshaft is on the pass. side.

The front closed knuckle Dana 27 w/ 5 on 5.5 wheel pattern in your Scout is not a strong axle and is not good for a solid axle conversion on your Toyota. My suggestion, find a Dana 44 front from a Waggy. They have dr. drop post '80, pass. drop pre '80, are 6 lug so you can reuse your Toyota wheels as well.

I been following this thread and if you read your post you left everyone to ASSume a lot. I would assume a 65 Scout would not be stock anymore and might have D44 front and rear. You said "what side the drive line is on my scout" Seems logicial you could just look, but now we see it's not at your house, again making everyone assume WTF is this guys talking about.

As you can see the "front" drive line is on the right. See how pictures can tell a thousand words. Get a star and post away in the TOY section and you get a lot of questions answered.

You can use Google advance search to the board too.

I would swap those Scout axles under your Yota also. I'll be looking for a set of those old Scout axles to put under mine when I break the ones I am running now. .
The axles out of that old 65 will probably stand up to full throttle clutch dumps with a 42" tire at least.
