Mid-February this conversion was performed on my Jeep. We did the long arms up front first, then we did the rear coil conversion. We started on a Friday afternoon and wrapped up on sunday afternoon.

Here are the pics:

The guy that helped me out a ton in doing this is actually thinking about marketing a rear coil kit out of his shop. Myself, the shop owner and 3 of my Jeep buds helped out with doing the conversion. It was a lot of work, and in the end, there are still some issued we are working out. I've had it out on the trail twice since the conversion and it works really well. Loads of wheel travel.

We are still dialing the body roll. I'm working on it from a couple of different angles a will post more when I get it all worked out.

For the moment, the rear coils are procomp 2in TJ front coils. They are a little softer than I like, so when i get spring rates all figured out, I'll know what springs I want to run as well.

Any questions or comments please post here or hit my email.

Hey macgyvr,

Looks good. You have any torque steer that the TJ's have?
How much travel to you think you have now front and rear?

What size, brand, distributor did you purchase your spherical (heim) joints from for the rear link?

What type of joint did you use on the front arms to the frame.

What tube did you use? dia, wall.

I like the axle mount for the rear links, looks good. Do you have good clearance bewteen the upper rear links and the gass tank?

This is my future project,
cool.

Well the rear end was welded up so yeah I get some torque steer associated with that...

I'll probably go to POR hell for the details, but here they are, and they work. I wish I had some wheelin pics, I've had it on the trail twice, but haven't got any good pics of it.

The tubing is Schedule80, about 2inches in diameter. All the bushings are stock bushings, the ones at the alxe end will be replaced with RE spherical joints when I get some cashola to spend on them. The heims were ones laying around the shop. I'm going to be replacing them with some higher quaility ones eventually. They are 3/4 16 5/8th bore.

I haven't had any trouble with the clearence btw the upper links and the gas tank mount. There seems to be plenty of room.

The suspension is stuff that seems pieced together, but it works, the shop owner is looking for ideas on things suspension and maybe going into selling a rear coil type kit. I'm not in it for the $$ at all, I"m having fun testing new stuff and seeing what works.
