: Repairing chrome rims

I found a set of chrome rims for a great price that I was thinking about buying but there are a few spots on the outer edge that the chrome has been scratched off and has rusted a little. I was wondering if there was any way other than having to take them to a shop and having all the chrome stripped off to fix them. They really don't look that bad but they aren't perfect and I'd like them to be near perfect. I know paint won't stick to chrome but could I etch the hell out of them and maybe get primer to stick then put that duplicolor chrome stuff on it then clear coat it or would the primer not stick. If i cant get anything to stick without having to chemically strip them then I'll just polish them the best I can and not worry about it. What do you guys think?
