I am looking to sell my pick-up and buy a 4runner. I seem to have an equal opportunity to get a 4cyl or V6... What are the pros and cons of having a V6? Is the chain drive transfer case the only reason most companies don't make much for the V6? I saw an adapter plate to run a 4cyl transfer case on a V6... am I better off doing that and getting the "stronger" V6 rear end or is there no real advantage to having a V6. I don't plan on it being a daily driver and I plan to do an SAS, so highway driving and road manners aren't a high priority. One of my options is to keep the pick-up (93 extended cab, V6...) as somewhat of a parts truck. It's not a beater by any means, but it's already mine, so if having a V6 is a plus, then maybe I'll look for a 4runner with a blown V6 and transplant the one out of the pick-up.....

What year 4Runner are you looking at? Same as your pickup? The 3.4 V6 is an improvement over the 3.0 V6. All depends on what you're looking to do. Heck, get what's cheap and swap a 4.3 into it...

I don't really have a preference on the 4runner. I suppose I'd like the creature comforts of a newer vehicle, but I also like the idea of the removeable top on the older models. I'm not concerned with body damage to a newer vehicle, so I'm not letting that sway me. I'd like to do a lot of the work myself, so it's somewhat important that it's close to stock, so a newer 4runner may the way to go.

How easy is a 4.3 swap? Do most people run a carb or FI.... or do they make a propane conversion? I've been trying to research as much as possible before I go buy something
