ok i have a 71 350, before i took out my distributor (it's a Accel 30100T) i put the #1 cylinder on TDC and the rotor was pointing towards the # 4 or 6 piston, well after i replaced the points and intake when i put the distributor back in does the rotor have to be in the direction that it was before or can i put it in w/ the rotor facing the # 1 cylinder. I'm not worried about putting the distributor in wrong because i marked some refrence points on it i'm just concerned about the rotor. well thanks

If the # 1 cylinder is on tdc of the firing stroke then the rotor must point at the #1 wire.
I don't know what you mean by "#4" was that the wire or physical cylinder?
If you just brought the timing mark to TDC it may be 180* out.

If thats the way you rotor was pointing at TDC, your timing is way off. With the #1 at TDC your rotor should be pointed at the #1 cyl.
Chevy piston position starts with #1, looking from the front of the engine, right side front #1, 3,5,7. Left side of the engine from the front 2,4,6,8.:skull:
