I'm looking into buying a cheap toy to start as a daily driver/moderate trail rig. I used to have a '70 blazer so I am relatively familiar with most terms but don't know about these toyota engines. What exactly is a "manifold head gasket leak" (quoted from an ad found in local classifieds) and how big a fix is it. here is what the ad describes... should I jump on it, or pass and keep looking?

im selling a 1988 toyota efi pickup 4x4. It has a 4 inch rancho 9000 ( 5 way adjustable). IT has silver aliminum rims, not shure of the brand they were on it when i bought it. Not shure on th ebrand of exhaust but its single full 3 inch tubbing. The tranny and rear end were just rebuilt. New alterator and starter and new plug wires, i have the plugs just havent put the in. It has a manafold head gascket leaks. The body has its dings. On the driver side in the back of bed has a bondo chunck gone. I guess the person who oned it before me did a bad job. Heater doestwork. Has a kenwood deck. Interior is great. Overall im selling it at a good deal. I just need money.

thanks,
Grant

Should you jump on it? Depends on how much you have to pay for it. If goober means the intake or exhaust manifold, they're pretty easy, careful of the exhaust studs (search.) Head gasket's relatively easy if you've done anything like that before, there's a decent walkthrough in the toyota FAQ. Call him and find out what the hell he meant.

it's for sale for $800, meant to put that in there. I'll call and figure out what he meant by that... that's why I was confused.
