With search down I am forced to post a dumb ass question.

Currently I am running the RubiD44 front. Never had any problems with it. Now I am planning on finally doing a flat skid so the LP of the 44 has me a bit concerned with ds binding. Limiting straps will help prevent it but I want to start to plan for a replacement. Current setup is 35" on RubiD44 f/r with RE 4.5 SA SF. Rocks is where I live and play.

A few people have told me to get a D30HP and polish the shit out of it. I just can't see wasting the coin on an axle thats only good for 35s knowing that I will want to go larger than that someday.

So my options seem to be

9" HP (Currie or a Tru9Hi)
D60 HP

Am I missing one? Whatever I do it will have to be bought complete or nearly completely so I can just bolt it in as I am a non-welding fawker.

if you are going to look into buying a prebuilt like Currie, def look into Sunray engineering, more options, more experience, better customer sevice and better prices than Currie.

Unless you get someone else to build it, no matter what you will be working on it. An HP D44 as suggested will require bracketry and work. Seems like a lot of trouble for a DS binding concern when there doesn't seem to be any evidence of it presented.

In my opinion, there is no point in going to the trouble of a change unless you go to a hybrid 9" or a D60. You gain nothing except a little bit of driveline angle relief that, like you say, can be controlled with limiting straps anyway. If you put the limiting strap in the middle you will get nearly full articulation without much droop at the differential.

By the way, you can search here even though the Pirate search feature is down (anyone else gloating over the irony of that? :flipoff2: ). Enter 'site:www.pirate4x4.com' into the google search text box along with your search terms and it'll search the Pirate site. I use that anyway since the vBulletin search sucks ass making it take too long to find simple things.
